Hosting a T-1 line [split from old thread]

Hey! I have a quick question I'm currently thinking of hosting a t1 connection in my small apartment complex and actually planning to host and provide the internet service to my neighbors maybe for a monthly charge. My apartment complex holds maybe 18 rooms assuming only 15 is occupied and 12 members agreed to it. is it possible to host a server and provide internet service to 12 of the members. T1 is slow - about 1.5 megabits a second. It was great when it was created, because it could handle 24 digital phone connections over a single line. It would be crazy to use T1s for a data centre's main communication links; however, there may be some customers who want a direct link from their office to the DC, and for whom T1 is adequate and cost-effective. T3 is faster - about 40 megabits a second. But I should think the installation prices are very high, as it needs repeaters every few hundred feet. You are buying bandwidth so the question is not how many servers but how much actual bandwidth can you use. You may have a single site that is saturating a T1 leased line.
