Server down?

Posted by Adam W, 02-26-2005, 07:55 PM
I have an reseller account at http://insiderhosting.com/ I have always been happy with them and all. However, from time to time someone tells me "your site is down every now and then for a few hours" and I don't like that. The thing is that I never noticed my website down However, the people that say my website is down have different ISP's from me and live somewhere else. I few years back I had an account at cyberpixels and half of france couldn't connect So, is there a way to monitor if my website is up and running from various places in the world? I'm gonna be releasing another website on my reseller account and I want people from Finland, Pakistan and to South Africa to be able to connect without a glitch. I was thinking of switching to some other host, something more "global" as insiderhosting.com seems to be catering more to just the west coast. What do you think?

host-tracker.com gives you a nice daily report and notifies you when its down. siteuptime.com is pretty good provided you pay them monthly alerltra.com is best but if you got the cash why not.

If you've opened a ticket with us about this - please drop me a PM with the ticket number. It sounds like you're suggesting network issues, and while we haven't had any complaints, until I run tests I can't really comment on the issue. Please either open a ticket or let me know the ticket number so I can do further research.

Hi! Http://www.websitepulse.com is good, too. I'm back to using them until I can do everything I want inhouse. I was not too impressed with Alertra. Websitepulse is very affordable...and is quite reliable, IMHO. Bryon

Hi! Well...I hereby retract my recommendation of websitepulse. I got my first bill today for Feburary...which should have been about $10.00. Surprise! It was $75.00!!!! I cancelled the account, of course. Stay from these folks. Bryon

Hosttracker is completely inaccurate, I wouldn't advise using them. Site uptime has always been good, not always perfect but accuracy is very close.

check with alertra.com and if its not down, refer your user to their ISP or alertra.com itself

I am having problems getting tickets answered at Insiderhosting. Anyone else with the same problem?
