IncognitoNetworks review

Posted by kektex, 05-20-2005, 10:55 AM
Hello, I have been using incognitonetwork`s reseller plan for a bit over a month and heres my review , since I had a hard time finding one when I was looking for opinions: I signed up on April 11th for their Lite reseller package to test the service first. Account setup took a bit longer than I expected because of problems with my credit card not passing a security check which was quickly solved as soon as I gave them a call to confirm my phone number (I`m outside the U.S) From there on the res was easy.I set up my domains and everything worked nicely.I set up some personalized DNS servers which they provide for but I had to search for the way to do this through google since I couldn`t find any directions on the site.IMHO,their FAQ is a bit lacking and on the site it says that there is a community help forum which I can`t find. Support response time is good (though if contacted late at night it might take them a while to respond) and they have a way of paging them in case of any emergency (which I haven`t had to use yet thank God). One thing I would like though is a way to pay the monthly fee through paypal with the money in my account (they receive credit cards through paypal and 2checkout). All in all it`s been a good experience and would recommend them to anyone looking for a nice reseller package to get started in the business.

Great, straight forward review. Sounds like they are doing a good job. I would like to address this paypal issue however (personally, I think its a good sign IncognitoNetworks is hesitent to accept PayPal) I am always amazed to hear consumers requesting to pay for hosting via PayPal. We only do this upon special request and frankly, Im shocked every time its requested (heck, this is completely integrated into HSphere and is the easiest payment method for us to accept). However, consumers should NEVER pay for any service with PayPal (unless you really trust the recipient), let alone hosting. There is absolutely ZERO protection for you, the client, when paying for hosting with PayPal. Id say that the largest majority of hosting scams involve PayPal, as the consumer assumes all the risk when paying for hosting with PayPal.
