AllManaged/Sagonet

I recently purchased and made use of a reseller account from AllManaged and would like to share my thoughts on their service. From the get go I was a bit disappointed. I noticed that the website advertised "Instant Activation" for the accounts. Upon receiving my signup receipt this was immediately contradicted. The e-mail stated that my account would be set up within 36 hours. The first time-frame (36 hours) passed without a welcome e-mail, so I sent an e-mail to their billing and support team. I received a response a few hours later stating that my account would be set up within twenty minutes. Two and a half hours later I e-mail them again, asking about the status of my account. I get a response from them 28 hours later stating that the e-mail was sent within the twenty minutes I was promised after contacting them after the initial 36 hour missed deadline. They suggested that it might have been lost due to spam filtering or something else. I highly doubt it, as I had been having no issues receiving e-mail from them or anybody else. Either way, a 28 hour delay for their reply is unacceptable, especially after all of the previous delays. After that last e-mail my account was set up and I was initially impressed with the service. The network seemed good and so did the hardware. Maybe a couple of hours into having the account I noticed the server start to slow down. It started taking quite some time to load any website and cPanel or WHM. I checked the service status and noticed the loads sitting around 15 and occasionally spiking to the 40s. I immediately fired off an e-mail and received a response a couple of hours later stating that they are looking into the issue. Days passed and the server still spiked constantly. There was never really a time since I first received my account that I noticed loads under 5 for any period of time. They would dip down a bit, then the memory usage would rocket up and the loads would soon follow. The server was obviously being hammered. I was told that a hardware update was scheduled for the near future, but never saw that take place in the following week. From my point of view, a severly lagged server due to extremely high CPU usage would be a top priority. Apparently not. After basically letting my domains sit on the server, hoping and waiting for a hardware update to fix the load issues, I decided to look for a new host. AllManaged was obviously not too interested in upgrading their hardware or looking to fix the issue actually causing the problems. I currently have a shared account with midPhase and decided to sign up with them for a reseller account as well. I am wonderfully pleased with the quality of the hardware they use on their machines. Instead of the P4 that AllManaged was using on their reseller server, midPhase instead makes use of Dual Xeons. I have so far noticed zero lag spikes with either the hardware or the network. After reading such wonderful reviews and thoughts on AllManaged/Sagonet, I was quite eager to try their services. Unfortunately it seems that they are still not quite ready to jump into the shared and reseller hosting market. Maybe they provide great dedicated servers, but hosting web pages appears to not be their thing. I am terribly disappointed with the service that I received from them, including the horribly long support response times and poorly managed hardware they use on their servers. I can now instead highly recommend midPhase/Autica for shared and reseller hosting for anyone that is looking. They truly are a great company that provides a great service. I have been a customer of theirs for a couple of years now and have been (mostly) extremely pleased with them. They do have their issues (occasionally long support response times), sure, but they make up for it with the quick responses the other 99% of the time and the quality of their hardware and network.

miakeru: I'm glad things worked out for you in the end. My advice to others that are thinking about any services from any provider is to look for a provider with the service you are looking for being their core competency. AllManaged/Sagonet are known for their dedicated server line (which is probably what the other reviews were based on). Just my penny... Roj

I definitely agree with you on that one, but being that they got such great reviews with dedicated servers and really seemed to know what they were doing, I was hoping for a bit more than what I saw from them. Sure, there could be hardware issues or abusive users on a server, but a week is time enough for them to resolve such things. I am of the opinion that they were not fully ready to jump into the shared/reseller hosting market just yet. Either way, their support times should have been much shorter than what they were, regardless of the type of service they are providing.
