x1services Report

Posted by donniesd, 08-31-2004, 06:59 PM
Hello all, I thought I would share my experience with x1services, also known at x1host. I have been with x1services since May 25, 2004, and it has been great. Darin the CEO has helped me with more then any other host. And offers allot of add-ons for a host then I have ever seen. You get more then you pay for. Servers are rock solid. Support is top notch; real and meaningful answers. x1services has been upfront if something is going on. x1services I think offers great costs for what you get in return. You can check thme out @ x1services.com Thats my little Report.

Posted by Humax, 09-02-2004, 02:59 PM
Hello, What kind of hosting account you have with x1services.com ? Shared or Reseller or Dedicated ? as I know they have many categories of hosting from their order links where you can see the packages and costs, Try close the order link with a different number every time and you'll see many amazing categories and email and hosting and some other special packages (I don't get it) If you're a reseller as I guess so try please to tell us more specific info regard your main reseller account, setup time, anonymous dns or private IPs!! how many clients you already transfer and how was easy or hard to move to their servers ? How many times you experience slow or interrupted http,ftp,pop3,smtp,ssh,mysql or any other service on x1services.com servers ? If you have a shared account so at least tell us how many unique visitors you got everyday ? and how you find the server stability ? Sorry for too much questions but I really want to have a big reseller account with x1services.com but I put it off for a while until I finish moving my current clients from yet down hostentric.com server to site5.com and hope they stay there. My next reseller account should be with x1services.com unless somthing cameup here. Thanks.

always nice to see happy clients with their hosts. keep up the good work

Posted by donniesd, 09-02-2004, 06:48 PM
Humax, Sorry should of posted that. I have a Reseller. It was easy to move, and x1services helped every bit. Setup time was fast as soon as I paid my account was ready, just had to wait for domain to update. And I did get private IP, and Client Exec when you order a reseller planes 4-6.(Contact x1services to be sure). x1services went down one time due to an update and x1services refunded that month. Slow, not really server is fast. On my forums pages load in 0.0742sec on average. x1services has been good on letting know when the server will be down or something and do it when the server is least active. http://www.x1services.com

Posted by Humax, 09-02-2004, 09:08 PM
I'm really happy to hear that and I hope they don't mind to use a reseller account to offer a free hosting services Glad because I think it's the last reseller offer I may trust before jump to the next costs level companies, But how they offer anonymous free support for my clients ? Thanks.

Posted by donniesd, 09-02-2004, 09:10 PM
They do offer anonymous support, but i dont know if its free. But its your account, i dont see why you cant host other people for free. Your so nice.

Posted by Humax, 09-03-2004, 08:39 AM
That's the problem, x1services.com missing information pages to describe how everything goes there but no ... you have to be there to see for yourself and that's why we're asking the current resellers of x1 here Thank you But I Really want to offer excellent free webhosting not any thing, Unfortunately HostEntric.com wasn't good enough may be because I got the Saturn server which known by too much troubles but the guys at HostEntric.com providing great support but I can't get my sites loads fast add to it some clients already complain regard TCP/IP errors the see all the time so I guess their reseller account may be not suitable for my needs so it's better to use Site5 to my paid clients and x1 for free hosting. Now what about x1services.com resellers accounts ? Is it good overall or what ? Is there any other x1 resellers around ? Thanks.

Posted by Humax, 09-03-2004, 08:42 AM
FROM X1 SITE: That's nice but how come ? Any x1 reseller around to tell us more ..

Posted by X1-Darin, 09-03-2004, 01:13 PM
We are working to provide more information on our site for potential clients...what would you like to see?

Posted by Humax, 09-03-2004, 01:18 PM
Thank you, I like to see how "Offereing anonymous support for your clients" ? Thanks again

Posted by Dactyl, 09-03-2004, 01:58 PM
that would be really intresting if x1 can provide anonymous customer support for my clients, would like to know how ur planning to do that?

Posted by X1-Darin, 09-03-2004, 11:24 PM
Essentially what we have done is purchased a domain not affiliated with us in any way. Clients are then given the path to pipe thier support emails into so they are added to the queue. A live support option is also being planned for in the future. Our BETA test has been very sucessful and official costs will be posted this weeked.

Posted by Humax, 09-04-2004, 07:35 AM
Do you have email ticket system ?

Posted by Dactyl, 09-04-2004, 07:43 AM
good, looking fwd. to it...

Posted by donniesd, 09-04-2004, 07:08 PM
Yes they do. Use PerlDesk 2.01

Posted by Humax, 09-05-2004, 12:17 AM
My mistake I wasn't clear, I don't mean a helpdesk system but email ticket which mean you send an email to support then a support ticket automatically opened with ticket tracking number to keep following up the conversation same as you're using helpdesk (Such as PerlDesk) but without using the web browser, Only by email that's why I call it email ticket system not just an other ticket system. It's a big different between login to PerlDesk to open or read tickets or just send an email with Outlook (Express) and follow-up using the same email client where you receive your clients email support requests. Thanks.

Yes, we do use perldesk to track tickets as they are emailed. This would allow you to track your conversation much easier support and allows our support team to better service your and your supported clients.

Humax, just to reconfirm what damien has saying about x1services.com. I've got 1st hand experience with them too. And its been nothing but smooth sailing except of course the initial stage where I had problems with moving some accounts over. But this of course due to my own fault of providing a different username/pass that was on my previous host's server. But Darin was there and fortunately he was patience through-out the move even though it was my fault for the bumpy ride

Posted by James K, 09-11-2004, 12:11 AM
damien, rois: if it is at all possible could you tell me some sites you are hosted with them?

Their site sure does load slow (on dial-up). I'm sure that's the result of poor optimization though, and not a direct result of their performance. Still, they should tweak the images and design a bit. The last impression you want to give potential clients is slow, regardless of the reason. There is also some hidden text at the very bottom of the page. "All of the services offered at X1 are backed up by our outstanding service . Whether it be a reseller account, outsourced support, or shared hosting, you can expect the very best value and performance." Does not appear to be search engine spam, so I'm not sure why it's there.

Posted by James K, 09-11-2004, 03:43 AM
Hmm, I just realised that both rois and damier are moderators on x1services' support forums.

Posted by rois, 09-11-2004, 04:33 AM
It was a new forum and I've always wanted to add that into my CV thus I volunteered to be a mod. And where would be an easier way of getting that kind forum moderating job than one that is new and is currently purchasing his hosting services from.

Posted by Gen-T, 09-11-2004, 05:34 AM
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...hreadid=319740 In that thread, Damier says he doesn't work for them, and the owner of X1 also comments - saying that Damier doesn't work for them. Now it seems that both Damier and Rois work for their support forums? I suppose if they are volunteers then technically they are not employees, but it sure looks a bit odd to have moderators from that hosting company's forum recommending the very same hosting company in so many of their posts. Hmmm...

Posted by rois, 09-11-2004, 05:48 AM
Gen-T, I'm probably the only one who is more active in WHT forum than compared to the other people (from X1 either staff or clients) thus it is only fair for me to give my recomendation. If you look at my no of post and when I was registered at WHT as a forum member, the time was much earlier than when I joined X1. I wouldn't have contributed so much if I was still with my previous host when thread that had x1 on it pops up. EDIT - been with them since around june 2004. Just trying to clear up a few more issues brought up. They do not work for X1Services, but in the interest of keeping truly "open" forums, I have left the moderation up to several very active members there. It would appear somewhat unfair for the employees of our company to moderate forums which contain feedback about themselves correct? Also, they recieve no payment or special treatment compared to our other clients. They have been a great asset however in the forums in helping others with some questions, and it is appreciated.

Posted by verso-sys, 09-11-2004, 10:35 AM
My experience with x1services (after 2 months with Reseller Account) - great services - the costs are great - great support I hope that it stay so.

Posted by Influx, 09-11-2004, 11:16 AM
verso-sys, Thank you for that. I was hoping another X1 Services customer, other than rois and damier, would give some feedback. Darin, Thank you too, for clearing up any confusion. I will possibly be purchasing a reseller account from x1 Services soon.

Posted by rois, 09-11-2004, 11:31 AM
Influx, FYI, I do happen to be a client of X1 and is currently on their reseller's plan. I think therefore my feedback was an appropriate responds to Humax's request earlier in the thread! Or am I wrong in responding to his/her request? Darin, Thank you for clarifying my position in X1services

Posted by Influx, 09-11-2004, 01:31 PM
I meant in addition to your feedback, not in exception.

Posted by Humax, 09-11-2004, 05:01 PM
Thank you very much for your replys and rich information, That was very useful and I'll use it in my business when I got enough number of free host requests. Thanks for all of you WHT members

Posted by jdk, 09-22-2004, 10:09 PM
Good service from what I can see, but spelling has a problem "Offereing" ??? did they mean Offering ? Someone didn't use their spell checker.

Posted by Humax, 09-23-2004, 12:34 AM
That was a great piece of information Thank you for your efficacious contribution

Posted by sitespt, 11-22-2004, 07:45 PM
Any news about them? support is very slow for pre-sales questions...

Posted by sitespt, 11-23-2004, 09:25 AM
I'm with some doubts about them... Does anyone have GOOD experiences for more than 4 months (at minimum)??? Thank you

Posted by X1-Darin, 11-24-2004, 03:39 AM
Thank you for your questions. I am not sure how many of our clients hang out in these forums, but you can usually post in our forums to get a pretty straightforward response. If have any questions you wish to ask privately, please feel free to contact me directly. Thank you for your time.

I am a relatively new member of x1services. I have had to use their support 3 times - there is currently 1 open ticket. The first two times were for changes I required from them (reverse DNS at their NOC, etc). The last one, and the one that is currently open, is for something I broke. Woops. IMHO, they are professional in dealing with their support tickets, and they get back to me fairly quickly. I do live in a different timezone from them, so there are delays every now and then while they wait for a response from me while I am sleeping, but I do not blame them for it - how can I? Their servers seems fast, and I have not had any major problems with them. I have a VPS account running Plesk, in case anybody wonders. I will post an update when/if I am still a customer of theirs in a couple of months. I probably will still be one, since I have no reason to cancel my account with them. The only downtime I've had so far was when I broke my account.

Posted by rois, 11-25-2004, 11:36 PM
I've been with them since June 2004, about 5 mths now. And have had no major problems with them. Uptime has been not been the best but its not down to a point where I can complain about Support is something that I rarely use except for the 1st few weeks where I needed help with moving accounts etc. But as far as I've used support, its been good response time and helpful/friendly response. Like revve I'm in a different timezone too but there has been no problem getting support. so overall its been a good experience

Posted by x-neolib, 11-27-2004, 01:12 AM
well... i agree with Influx, i don't want to hear / read feedback from rois nor damier about X1Services. i smell something 'fishy' with both of them regarding x1 (x1's always hiding the truth, childish, i know that from the way he threated me my thread in his testominal was moved to other sub forum, etc)........ 'Justice maybe blind, but It can see in the Dark"

Posted by X1-Darin, 11-27-2004, 12:21 PM
Just to provide an update on a few things brough up here. Damier did not work for us at the time of his postings or mine. In the last couple of weeks we did approach him regarding employement and he has since joined our team in the last week. His opinions posted before his employment, however, I believe are still valid. rois, is not at all employed by x1services. We did make a request for current customers to become moderators so that we could provide unbiased moderation and truly open forums. This still applies.

Well... I've found the server DOWN and it has been for about an hour... All sites posted here, and x1services.com... all of them are down... This is not good at all... I was thinking opening an account... but... I don't think so...

Have you tried contacting the host? It might be some small error or some schedule downtime..

Posted by eyals, 12-20-2004, 06:21 AM
Server is down for more than 16 hours now! was told by Darin it's a minor problem, well... minor problems do take about a day to fix huh?

Posted by nanasera99, 12-20-2004, 11:26 AM
Hey! What's happening with x1services.com??? It's down for more than 24 hours...

Posted by tattoovampire, 12-20-2004, 12:01 PM
Boy, I'm glad I jumped a few pages ahead in this thread! I was thinking of opening a test account with them.

Posted by coight, 12-20-2004, 12:30 PM
If you have not heard from your host in 24 hours you should be evaluating your options.

Posted by sjconsult, 12-20-2004, 12:49 PM
This is also my host. I spoke to them yesterday and they said that all of the hard drives did not mount or something - but i am a computer guy and I know this does not take 24 hours to fix

Posted by sjconsult, 12-20-2004, 12:52 PM
He is costing me business and I have his contact information. He has failed to return two phone calls now. If I do not hear back from him quickly, I will prepare to file legal action

Posted by sjconsult, 12-20-2004, 01:20 PM
I have now filed a complaint with the better business bureau

Posted by tattoovampire, 12-20-2004, 01:40 PM
Are they a member?

Posted by SS-Juan, 12-20-2004, 01:43 PM
I have tried to have my account cancelled for the last week. My ticket was logged, but I have had no response at all. The site has been down for a 2 (3?) days now (I wanted it cancelled even since before the downtime - mostly because my new host is CPanel/WHM - I don't like Plesk). At least all my sites have been moved before the problems.

Posted by eyals, 12-20-2004, 03:13 PM
There's no way to contact them! no answer on the phone, no email response, nothing!

Posted by eyals, 12-20-2004, 03:34 PM
Seems like no data lost on drive.

Posted by CreedFeed, 12-20-2004, 06:34 PM
I dunno but if you expect to get - 20GB Storage Space - 425GB Bandwidth Transfer for $39.99..... that doesn't seem right.

Posted by X1-Darin, 12-20-2004, 07:16 PM
The last 24 hours has been a rough time for the staff at X1 and myself. At X1 we pride our selves on being very upfront with our customers. Following is the explanation for the service outage experienced by many and what we plan to do about it. The initial outage was caused by an EV1 tech investigating an attack on the server. During the initial investigation the server was power cycled. Upon further investigation EV1 found that there was no problem, but then again pull the power on the server. For those that are familiar with computers in general and active servers specifically, you know that improper shutdowns cause problems as do rapid power up and power downs. This series of power cycling by EV1 on the running server caused corruption on the primary boot partion of the drive. At first the server responded by comming online but failed to load the second drive and many services. After having EV1 run a memory test, they again power cycled the server when problems arouse and the server failed to come online. We then contacted EV1 and requested a remote KVM to diagnose the problem. We found that the corruption had taken place in many sytem files and was unrecoverable. This caused the initial 4 hours of downtime. We then requested a fresh OS be loaded onto a spare drive with cPanel. The EV1 techs failed the install twice causing major delays. Thier techs were also becomming more delayed in their responses. A few calls were made by me to the highest level management available and emails sent to all levels. Things started to progress faster at this point but it was still too late. After the new drive was installed we had to reconfigure settings and migrate data from the corrupted drive. All data should now be restored and configuration changes are being updated to ensure 100% performance. If you are still having problems, please contact us at x1services.com/support . I have been in constant communication with EV1 management today to identify where their communication broke down and how to make sure this doesn't happen again. As many of those that I spoke to on the phone know (some of which I can now identify by voice) we have been working around the clock to get this going, but much of it was out of our hands. I do appreciate your patience in the matter and ask that all questions regarding the incident be placed in this thread. Thank you.

Posted by x-neolib, 12-20-2004, 09:51 PM
well sounds logic to me, but as you know i myself don't believe X1 anymore for what x1 has been done to me (they are always hiding the truth). the question is: why do you post this situation after the situation resolved? you know this board, and why don't you post it here before this 2 days? why are you make your customers wait for 2 days, just to read this msg? why don't you do that while you are in troubles and let your customers know the step by step progress of what was you guys doing? big question mark!!!

Posted by X1-Darin, 12-21-2004, 01:32 AM
We did communicate with many customers via phone about the issue...many through my personal cell phone. As this proves, we are not trying to hide anything.

Posted by x-neolib, 12-21-2004, 02:17 AM
look eyals' post hmm...this is what i meant after all. x1 is always hiding the truth~ let's judge yourself, pal. you could call me a badmouthing person but i'm just trying to help you

Posted by X1-Darin, 12-21-2004, 02:30 AM
I do appreciate your feedback. I apologize for eyal being unable to reach us and encourage him to contact me personally if he would like to speak over the phone. I will admit however that email communication was limited due to the service unavailability.

yes i cant view their site nor ping it

Posted by sparker366, 12-22-2004, 11:22 AM
Worked for me just a while ago. I even cleared my cache before going there.

Posted by eyals, 12-25-2004, 03:02 PM
Darin, I left you a message on the phone and still was kept with no idea what's going on for more then 24 hours. In this kind of situation you should call all your customers until the last one. In this kind of business, leaving your customers in a situation they have no idea what's going is not a good behaviour. You were not available in MSN messenger as well, this was the last straw. Next time Use your private ISP mail account to inform your clients, or seperate your forum to another server. Eyal.

What about news in this topic?

Posted by rois, 01-21-2005, 11:45 AM
you mean update? I guess seeing that no one has posted here, the problem solved

Posted by niyogi, 01-22-2005, 07:09 AM
Wow, this was really a page turner. Learned a lot from the start to finish. One thing about anonymous tech support - using a domain not affiliated in anyway somewhat works but tickets usually can't be viewed properly. Roj

was this just a fake report or everyone posted real comments ?

Posted by X1-Darin, 01-22-2005, 09:21 PM
This is a rather long thread, so it depends on which posts you were referring to. However, unfortunately, the extended period of downtime on one of the cPanel servers is true. However all data was recovered succesfully and all is running at 100%. Thank you.

x1 is down again... I can't see the x1services website, and I can't log into my control panel. Anyone knows what's happening?

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...hreadid=389890 We will be updating at the above thread. Some users are having problems connecting to our forums due to the DNS problems. We apolgize for the inconvinience.
