Edit /etc/ssh/sshd_config to allow root logins, then restart sshd. After this you can login directly as root using winscp.

Hi, First, I don't see why you can't upload data using Winscp with a limited user(as long as you have correct permissions) Changing user in middle of session in WinSCP is impossible (using su root), but with correct permissions, you may can use sudo. for more information check this on WinSCP FAQ: http://winscp.net/eng/docs/faq_su and these in winscp forums: http://winscp.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8145 http://winscp.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3728 Good Luck!
