How to create tar file on plesk server without ssh or root?

Posted by mrzippy, 09-10-2010, 03:47 PM
Hello, I am trying to move a customer from a plesk server to a cpanel server. Their account on plesk is about 700mb in size, so what I'm trying to do is "tar" it up and then move the single tar file. However, I don't have ssh or root to the plesk server.. so I can't seem to figure out how to do this. Any ideas? Maybe there is a php script or something I can install on the plesk account and use that? Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.

you can use the WHM migration tool

mrzippy :: There is no such tool in Plesk control panel to tar a directory. However as said by "activelobby4u", you can use the WHM migration feature to migrate the Plesk account as it is on the cPanel server. BTW, you must have root access to the cPanel server in order to use this feature. Or if you don't want to use the WHM migration feature, you can ask the old host to make a tar of his home directory and place it under httpdocs so you can directly wget it on the cPanel server.
