Fsck problem...

Hi, I have a linux server with WHM and more then 2100+ website hosted on the same server,now couple of days ,i have faced very strange situation..my server restarted automatically every couple of days and restart with FSCK of /home partition..i have cross checked all the possible reasons,but still the same... Please do the needful and let me know the best way to get rid of this situation.

Can you give us more information on what you have checked so far? Most likely cause of it crashing is hardware, disk or controller.

What do you see in the logs right before the restart? That would be the first place I would look. /var/log/ messages, authlog, daemon, etc..

Whilst I agree with the above posts. I'd also check something as simple as the CMOS battery. Linux is very sensitive to the time / date set on the machine. If this changes incorrectly, then some Linux distributions will try FSCK after every reboot.

Definitely check /var/log/messages. Random restarts can typically be associated with an overheating CPU, bad RAM, or hard disk errors. Your issue is likely related to physical hardware. Check your logs and be ready to get your provider on the phone. Get your backup and restoration plans together ASAP. Notify your customers.

Hi, Thanks for your all suggestions...now it seems that my problem has been resolved.. If the problem still persists...i will update the same.
