Reseller6 « Thinking about it!

Posted by SilverSting, 08-10-2004, 08:36 PM
Hi Guys, I currently have a reseller plan with Bright-Byte, and I'm a happy customer. Nothing much to complain about although the support (via forums) always rubbed me the wrong way... on the other hand they never gave me a reason to use it !!! I'm sorta taking a back seat to resellering right now, and sorta looking around. Seeing that this is a slow time for me, I was thinking of switching to Reseller6 (a Datacities Company). Reviews are few... and so I'm a little wary... mind you now is probably the best time for me to test them out !!! What do you guys think ???

If you're happy with your current account, is there really any great need to shift the entire thing over to something you are unfamiliar with?

Damn.. they're costs are kind like Reseller6... time to search for reviews Just looking around... seeing if I can cut prices, but still keep the same service. I don't have hundreds of accounts to create... so now might be a good time... or maybe not !!! BTW, what's the process of switching reseller's ??? Will there be a problem seeing that I want to keep my private name servers?

If you're switching cPanel to cPanel, your new host may be able to transfer the accounts over for you. You will need to provide usernames and passwords for each account you want transferred for this to happen. Good hosts will also change your DNS records so that the transfer happens "instantly". With regards to private nameservers, your new host will assign you new IPs. You will replace the IPs your old host provided you with, with these new IPs, and usually within around 24-48 hours your nameservers will begin pointing to the new servers. Just remember, more important than trying to save a few dollars, is to find a host that is reliable and not going to run your business and clients through the mud. Whoever you choose, make sure they have a rock solid reputation for reliability and customer service, that has been built and backed up over several years of experience. Trust me, it's not worth risking your business with an unknown entity just to save a few dollars.

KualoJo, advice taken. I think I'll do some more research before changing. I've also look into zoneserv and spoke to the owner. Makes me feel better than Reseller6. I'll keep you guys posted!

If you are happy and things are running smooth - why the change? Having solid support and accounts with good time is very valuable and can be good thing when growing your business to the next level.

No worries. I just hate to see people getting steamed for the sake of a few dollars, so choose wisely If you do change, let me wish you the best of luck. Do let us know who you choose, why you chose them and how you get on with them now and, if you're still with them, a few months down the line.

UPDATE ON RESELLER6: I've spent the last week with them... trying them out and I can tell you that their support is far from good. I've sometimes gone over 24 hrs without a response nor reply. I I want to change to a new reseller because of support worries with my current reseller. Seeing that is was my first time moving reseller... I need some help, and didn't get any! I've asked for a refund... and will continue looking else where! Luckily, I decided I was going to keep all of my clients on my current reseller, and test one single domain name (a spare) with Reseller6. Doing this saved me lots of headaches and downtime !!! Just a personal experience with Reseller6, so for anyone thinking about them -- remember that it may take a while to get an answer to your questions.

Hi SilverSting, Just thought I would jump in here, as we are always looking for ways to improve our services and ask what it was in the our forums that "rubbed you the wrong way" Also just curious why you would want to change hosts as 99% of the time our support tickets are answered within an hour and to my knowledge you have not experienced any unscheduled downtime since you have been with us. If you would like to discuss any problems you might have please either pm me or email me at the address in my profile.

Hey Guys, Firstly, I have to say and admit that I am happy with my hosting with Bright-Byte, and true to the matter, I haven't had any down time and/or problems with Bright-Byte. If anyone is thinking about Bright-Byte, they should give them the time of day... after all I am still with them. As for what "rubbed me the wrong way"... well when I first started out with Bright-Byte I naturally had questions and/or problems... and used you forums for support. Now I did get support and downtime was minimal if any! Response time was average (if memory serves me correctly), but I felt like the whole support process was incomplete. Maybe it's more of a question of site layout and design then anything else... I felt (and still feel) like I never know where the best place to for support is !!! I always did like phone support best Other hosts were also offering better deals, with more space and bw. I'm I saying they are better than Bright-Byte.... not from what I've seen so far. In my quest for more space/bw, for a small price, I've learned that support is of the outmost importance for me, and I'm glad that I tried while keeping all my clients with Bright-Byte. For all other reading... I've looked into... Reseller6 -- terrible support zoneserv -- I think Gil is missing in action, isn't he? Gazzin -- Great deal 10$ for 7.5/80 but reviews all few!

Congratulations! That's normally something people learn after dragging their clients to hell and back with a host who couldn't give a monkeys about them or their clients. Now to educate the rest of the world on this matter... I'm glad to see you're happy with your host; I certainly hope that you continue to be happy with them too.
