Someone help! Domaingurus is still offering 5000 websites 500 mb each, 20 gb bw each, at $ 50/mo. But it is really hard to beleave: I am receiving calls from them, each one 15 to 20 minutes (from USA to Argentina!). they are visiting Argentina, Chile and Uruguay soon (Argentina!!), they are advising in PC magazines with full page... How can this be understood? I repeat: 5,000 websites 500 mb each = 2,500 gb. 20 gb each site = 500 tb bandwidth Are they overselling assuming you will sell, let's say, 500 accounts at a average of 200 mb each? If so, you will be paying $ 50 for 100 gb. Still seams unreal... Is there anybody working with these guys? domaingurus, host2own and car are the same (or at least same phone nbr)

I would say they are grossly overselling. They are betting that nobody uses that much space. You could test out there plan by uploading garbage bytes to fill up a 750 gb. I would say that is as bad as unlimited. If you used all the bandwidth they would make a huge loss. They are using cogent bandwidth from cari.net which would cost them $2640 for the bandwidth if you used up all the bandwidth. (80mbps * $33 per mbps) (http://www.cari.net/Colocation/colocation.html) Last edited by zinet; 08-23-2004 at 01:32 AM.

When or how long will you have or host 5,000 websites? Thats the question.

Am I missing something? How is this overselling? If someone is paying $50 per month, the company can easily afford to provide this. Feel free to fill in the gaps in my head, because something just doesn't make sense here.

Quote from their website; They need to contact oversellers anonymous. $50 for 750GB disk, and 20TB transfer. Simon

Thanks Simon. I didn't actually go through to the website. Now that I have, I understand a little more and am now just dumbfounded as to how people can actually buy into something this ridiculous.

Oversellers anonymous? I think it's more "Help! I'm addicted to overselling and can't stop! Help!" I have no clue how they expect to keep that up, but when they fail there will be a lot of unhappy resellers.
