what is the best my.cnf will be?

Hello, I ordered this server Intel Xeon E5520 Nehalem 2.26GHz 4x256KB L2 Cch / 8MB L3 Cch Quad-Core 1TB First hard 250GB Second hard 6TB bandwidth 12GB RAM WHM/Cpanel but i don't know what is the best my.cnf will be for the server, i'm running vbulletin for my sites.

Better contact your system admin to check your server and then optimize my.cnf. Here is a sample my.cnf

The example above is just example. Do not copy/paste it. Think a lot before did. I suggest you leave my.cnf as is by default. Default options is smart enough. Than use mysqltuner.pl script (download it from http://mysqltuner.pl/) to optimize my.cnf parameters.

Oops I cannot see the most important lines which are needed for the MySQL security is missing here, skip-networking set-variable=local-infile=0 local-infile=0 Better add these lines to protect the MySQL from attacks.

Please beware of mysql scripts that are not customized for your server. The my.cnf should contain parameters that has been customized as per your server configuration. It is NOT necessary that the script which is working for a user will work for your server too. I will recommend to you to hire a sysadmin or contact your hosting support to get a customized my.cnf exclusively for your server. Using just any or sample my.cnf might result in bad performance of your server.
