new reseller with 2 questions

Posted by cryman, 07-26-2004, 11:44 PM
hello everyone, I bought a new resellers account a few days ago. I did a search on the whois and my name and contact information was not on it. The name servers on the whois is the nameservers of the company I purchased from. Is this something that can be changed? I'm not to sure really how I'm going to set everything up yet. I noticed the ssl certificate icon and I was wondering if that is what I would use to register the packages? thanks

This is something that should be asked directly to your hosting company. You'll also need to have access to your domain CP, to be able to change that whois contact info. Simon

Just get your provider to setup your private nameservers for you. Some providers charges setup/monthly fee, some do it for free. Just speak to your provider about it. Once your private nameservers have been setup, just change the nameservers for your domain(s) and all the other hosted accounts to your private nameservers. Remember that changing NS might cause some minor downtime.

Thank you guys, can you give me any information about the ssl cetificate?

I presume you mean an SSL icon in CPanel. The SSL certificate icon is there to generate a CSR, which is basically the first step in getting your own SSL certificate for your domain. Once you have generated the CSR, you will need to take this to an SSL authority (I suggest www.instantssl.com) and have it signed by them. You can then install the certificate, or have your host do it for you, depending on the permissions your account has been granted by your hosting company. Your domain must have a dedicated IP to install a cert. Simon
