You know that whenever you buy a hosting package you are offered to buy extra a security package which usually prices between 20 and 40 USD/year. What is this security package "doing" for your site security? Is it really safer for you to buy it? Which are the alternatives, let's say if you don't buy this? Thank you.

Can you share a link the security package in question? Regards Joe / UNIXY

Are you mentioning about VPS/Dedicated hosting providers?

Your talking about unmanaged vs. managed plans. Managed plans offer more dedicated support towards issues that you might have, getting your server secured and optimized and troubleshooting with various issues. Unmanaged plans are those that let you run it your way. If you have a problem and its not a very small or easy to solve one, then the host will say - Good luck..please find your way around it. We dont have time and resources for helping you out. Thats pretty much how it works. Based on your own level of understanding and technical know-how you can decide the plan you need.

Yep, I think he is talking about managed and unmanaged offers. His host might have renamed it as security package. It works same way as told by RDOSTI.
