Selling a Resellers out of Reselling account?

Posted by weeniesca, 04-13-2004, 09:08 PM
Just wondering, if anyone out there, preferably cheap with lots to offer can offer a resellers account...but then! be able to resell to that client as well.

There are several hosts that do this but I do not recommend it. I would start small and work your way up if you don't have a lot of capital to invest.

i already have about 12 clients, im looking to offer resellers accounts from the space in my resellers account, the host i have now is great, but im looking to purchase another huge resellers account that will give me the availability to make 1 or 2 or more resellers accounts under my name.

I would be careful trying to offer this, it could quickly spider out control, and make sure you charge adequately for it. Once you start offering reseller accounts you already have to keep a close eye on them to make sure that they and their clients all stay within your ToS, etc. But if they start creating reseller accounts on your box, you're now having to watch all those people too. Let's say you give them the ability to sell reseller accounts and you're charging them $50/mo for the account, well, they sell 10 reseller accounts, and all of them have 20 clients, that's 200 accounts on the server right there, and you're only making $50/mo off it. Hope that makes sense. It's something you need to be careful with.

Oops, I posted to fast, sorry, didn't realize you were a reseller that wanted to find a host that would let you do this.

lol not a problem, i wouldnt offer reselling services to the reseller i give to, id offer them simple whm, wondering if there was a more higher level of whm that can offer reseller accounts from my reseller account. I know it seems difficult

There's no clean way for your host to offer what you're wanting to do. Hosts that do it are using cpanel hacks, etc from what I've heard. Good to know you wouldn't want to offer them the ability to resell reseller accounts as well as that would just make the effect I described above exponentially worse

Just so ya know, I know nothing about that company ... so you might want to do some research, etc.

Since you already seem to have some experience in hosting, I suggest you try getting yourself a VPS instead of a reseller reseller account. This way you control all of the stuff and I'm sure it will cost you around the same. I just never liked the idea of reselling reseller accounts. Just sounds like too many levels of control involved, and something can always go wrong. My $0.02.....

Clook.net allowed you to resell their reseller accounts last time I checked. They gave you a 15% discount on the price too. I'm not sure if this is exactly what you are after but it might be something for you to consider. They have a great reputation too for stuff like support - and that's the most important thing imo.

This is a much better idea. There is a Reseller Center in the WHM where one can set up and controll all resellers' privileges.

Just remember if you went the VDS/VPS route, you'd then be the one responsible for making sure your services were all running etc instead of your host unless you got a full managed service. And if the service claims to be managed, be sure it would include monitoring, etc, or at least very fast response times to tickets submitted by you if you're unfamiliar with out to get apache back up, etc. There is more responsibility on your part involved in a VPS.

Try bluewho.com i believe they offer you the right to resell their reseller accounts after you have an account with them.
