hypervm xen vps won't update its ip

Posted by hostcadet, 12-22-2009, 07:14 PM
I am using hypervm and I have a vps that I have changed the ips on. Then I saved made sure the ips are saved and in the list. Next I reboot and Ips never change. I log into the server and check ifconfig and no changes are made? What am I doing wrong?

Did you configure the IP in the VPS, or in HyperVM?

Hypervm I thought I had to.

Well reboot the VM and check if HyperVM has indeed changed the IPs. If not, manually set them.

can I do that by adding aliases in the network-scripts ? I found the issue I don't know why adding ips was never a issue but not that I have several ranges I wasn't using the ip pool so I believe that the ips didn't have the right gateway set.

Is this xen or openvz?

Yes its xen and things are worse I get it to boot up with the wrong ips. even though nowhere does it have the ips it used to have on it. but when you boot they are still there. then if you do a restart of the network it comes up with the ips it should have great. then in cpanel if you look at the ips it has what it should so you think great. but no. try to assign those ips to anything else they won't work. shutdown hypervm server and i can add those ips to a different dedicated server and works untill you start hypervm backup and it takes those ips away. this system should allow for easy change of ips
