question about NAC.net premium bandwidth

Posted by linkmaster, 03-16-2004, 02:12 PM
I wanted to ask a question. Is the speed of all hosts using premium NAC.net bandwidth same? For example, on some hosting forums I read http://www.bluewho.com hosted sites are fast while the other's say the speed is damn slow . The pings take a long time. Also, read that bluewho servers have high latency. What's all this stuff? Can anyone explain me what latency is and for what pings are used? NAC.net site seams to be ok to me. I am a total web-hosting-newbie. Please help. (bluewho.com provides 5 static IPs, so thinking about hosting with Adrian)

In can be depend on how satuarated a hosts connection to NAC is. Or, how much connectivity they buy from NAC.

Linkmaster, where did you get that info? You can check the pings for yourself to various DCs. It will greatly depend on your geographical location, however, so it doesn't mean too much. Just for the record, I've been getting lower pings to NAC (where Bluewho is) than to most other DCs, even on the east cost. This was not the main reason I joined them, though. And I've never had a complaint from a client or a visitor about the speed of the sites loading. GDO

Hi Linkmaster, Can you point me to the posts which claim our connections are slow? I am just interested in taking a look - you can email me the details if you don't want to post. Also, you may have seen a couple of threads on our forums about high latency, but more often than not the problems are brief or ISP related. Anyway, thank you for your interest Adrian.

PM sent with evidence. I have read bad reviews(downtime, slow speed) against every single host, except http://www.httpme.com and http://www.totalchoicehosting.com In fact, when I scanned through this page, I got scared! http://www.webhostingtalk.com/archive/forum/59-1.html Please don't consider my post the other way. I want to be a Bluewhoian and had sent a few questions to their support team. Joshua and Adrian, both were quick to reply back with appropriate answers. So the next move will be 'paying bluewho' and getting my account setup. Can anyone explain me, why the name 'Bluewho' ? Rather queer! How about 'Redwho' 'Pinkwho' or 'Orangewho' (for some new host) http://www.canaryassyellow.com/

Every single is pretty wide statement there? Lots of hosts who advertise that they use NAC bandwidth use Pegasus / DedNow who have recently made changes/upgrades to their network. Maybe the latency / downtime caused by this has skewed the picture? We've had no problems with latency to our servers direct with NAC on either the Vox or HTTPme side. There have been a couple of network outages of late, but these have been scheduled and nothing major.
