I think I want to move - thoughts/quotes?

Hiya, I am in the UK and currently use a reseller account on a server in ThePlanet in Dallas. I pay $15 per month for 1GB space / 10GB bandwidth. I'm thinking of moving to a provider in the NAC in New Jersey (it's in NJ, right?) Basically I'd like to know if it's worth it at all - will I or my customers see any real benefits? If you think it is worth it - any recommendations? I've been looking at perhaps HTTPme.com or beachcomber.net. Finally - how easy will it be to move about 20 accounts from one reseller account to another - using WHM / cPanel. Thanks a lot for reading - any opinions / quotes much appreciated.

Since you are moving whm to whm, it should be very simple to move the sites over. For the provider, I cannot say what the difference you would experience from the datacenter being in the UK as I am in the US, however we currently use ThePlanet and have used NAC in the past and were very pleased with both of them. One thing about NAC is that there are many providers based there and not all of them use the same transit providers. That will be something to look at when comparing the speeds for UK. HTTPme has great reviews all around however I have not used them. I have used beachcomber, but from a dedicated perspective, not a reseller, but if they handle both the same, I think you would be happy there as well.

Well we have servers at SM and NAC both are great. Its a matter of simple choice really. If you host mostly uk sites you might get better pings and speeds from NAC since it is located on the East Coast SM in central USA. Besides the moving its a little ruff doing them yourself. However if you provide your old info to the new company they should move your accounts with greater ease. Good luck on what you decide bud and keep us informed.

Are you happy where you are? If it's just the possibility that you "might" get a slightly better performance from a server in another datacenter, and other than that you have no problems at the moment, and what you're paying is within your budget, i wouldn't tempt fate. If you did notice any difference in performance, i'm sure it wouldn't be any huge amount, unless there's problems with the server you're on currentley.

Cheers, thanks for the replies. If / when I decide to move, I'll let you know where I go and what the move was like...

Hope I am not too late I agree with Xero, unless you have a big reason to move such as performance issues and the like, there may not be much of a difference if you were to make the move and therefore all that work may not really be worth it.
