3dgwebhosting.com Network Outage

Posted by 3dgwebhosting, 09-04-2008, 08:49 PM
at approximately 3:50pm Mountain Standard Time September 4, 2008 3dgwebhosting.com lost all network connections and backbone redundancy. A construction crew working near our datacenter severed all data lines coming into our datacenter. Unfortunately this included cutting all our redundancy. All major backbone providers are presently onsite repairing the damage and we anticipate repairs to be complete within the next few hours. We apologize for the inconvenience our customers may experience. Our telephone lines were also affected and we had the telephone company re-route our 1-866 line to answer questions should any customers call.

Did you go out there and beat them up?

Wow, that really sucks. They've done that here once too (residential area).

Apparently the mapping of fiber coming into our facility was incorrectly communicated to them, they thought nothing was buried in the location they dug!!!! Yes this sucks really really bad... a logistical error that may cost me....... Keep my fingers crossed..... at least my backbone providers were quick to help, they are repairing the lines as we speak.

Update: as of 10:30pm Mountain Standard Time, crews have been working as quickly as possible to repair the damage. all of our network backbone providers are on site doing what they can to get everything online soon. we are working on a temporary redundancy system to at least get services going until all connections are restored. a solution is in the works and we are working out logistics in case the repairs run longer than expected. we will update again soon. Thank you for your patience and understanding, we are doing our best to minimize the impact on our customers. thanks again 3dgwebhosting.com Management

i just signed up to wht, as i was going to post a question asking what happened to 3dgwebhosting as my vps has been down a few hours, and their domain 3dgwebhosting.com wasn't resolving either. anyway, found this thread that let everyone know what happened. very impressed with the professionalism of this company, not to mention the happy use of my windows vps with them so far (1 month) keep up the good work guys, and hopefully not much longer till everything's back.
