vmware install stalls at Booting: MBI=0x000100d8, entry=0x00100212

My employer has asked me to mess around with vmware... I have tried to install it on multiple servers. Everytime I do I end up with the install hanging at this line: Booting: MBI=0x000100d8, entry=0x00100212 I have read around a bit and some say that they get this issue after trying to upgrade from 3.5 to 4.0. I am currently trying to install 4.0 and my next step is to attempt a 3.5 install. If anyone knows why this is happening, any help is appreciated. ps. the latest server I am trying this on, is a Dell Poweredge 2600. Running 2 Pentium Xeon procs at 2.8GHz and 2 gigs of ram. Thanx in advance for any help!

update: I attempted to install 3.5 and the Raid controller seems to be incompatible. I have seen other people who have been able to install vmware on a dell poweredge 2600, but no one saying how they did it. If anyone happens to have this information, please help me out.
