Posted by Woser, 09-03-2008, 02:45 PM
Seems creative VPS is completely dark. They had mentioned a system upgrade that would happen at 6:30 am today.. and last about an hour. which is .. i guess still going on, I left a message for their tech support and for Joseph who runs it. That was a little over an hour ago. So I guess down since 6:30 am,I only noticed at 9 am.. so taht's 6-8 hours. so far.

I removed it so that we can keep one thread open on this. I saw that Joseph was online here earlier. Maybe he will post an update.

I got an email from them and they said :"a period of up to 1 hour" and now more than 9 hours I don't know why ? ================================ Valued Customer, In case you did not get our earlier email, we will be performing a large-scale maintenance at our New York City facilities. This maintenance is taking place Wednesday, September 3rd 2008 at approximately 6:30 AM EST. The maintenace will be intermittent, and will affect all VPS nodes. If you are on the following nodes: ECHO, FOXTROT, HOTEL, INDIA - your services might be disrupted intermittently for a period of up to 1 hour. As part of our continuing work to improve upon the stability of the physical and electrical infrastructure of our data center in New York, we will be required to power down one or more of your VPS associated with the nodes that are in the rack undergoing maintenance. This will require a larger period of downtime for a rather involved procedure which we estimate at taking anywhere from a half an hour to an hour. Because of this, we will begin early in the morning. Although downtime is never something we all enjoy, we are using the early morning hours to do our best to appease to you, our clients. We would like to thank you for choosing CreativeVPS, and have a wonderful evening. Should you have any further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to open a support ticket, or call us 24/7 at (800) 615-6498. Regards, Joseph Fasone CreativeVPS CEO

Almost 10 hours. My clients are less than happy at the moment.

Just hope the server you are on shut down cleanly, otherwise it'll force a fsck, which can take several hours depending on the size of the hard drive.

Thanks, Lar. That's an infusion of positivity!

This is insane, the least he can do is return calls. I can't seem to reach a live person at all. At this point I just want access to my Data. If I had been smarter and pulled a back-up last night like I thought too.. I would already be on a new host. My latest back-up is from Sunday night.. I'm still holding out hope that this will all be over soon.

Hi there, I apologize for the downtime, but we're having some maintenance troubles. I'll post up a detailed RFO in a few minutes. You guys seem to be on the Echo node which is the one having some issues, service is normal for all customers - just not our corporate server and Echo. Service should be resumed momentarily. Regards, Joseph

Also, I just want to add - YOUR DATA IS SAFE. This was not at all a hard drive issue, the RAID array and all 4 drives on the array are functioning fine with all data on them. We're just working on restoring VPS service on the node now. Thank you very much for your support and cooperation.

Hi guys, All VPS are being started. Service should resume to normal within 5-15 minutes.

Just an update, VPS Services have been fully restored on the Echo node, and all VPS' are now running. For clients who say they're still having trouble. Many times "named" fails to auto-start. To remedy this, login via SSH and run "service named restart" without the quotations, and that should fix the issue. For any further questions or concerns, please submit a support ticket. A full RFO is coming shortly. Regards, Joseph
