Hi, Currently i'm using Reseller plans, CPanel based. Thinking of trying a Dedicated Server Looking at some Websites, ppl are offering Server and some Control Panel (maybe at extra cost) What i want to know is what things are needed to make a Dedi. Server to Offerings for Reseller Accounts/ Individual Accounts. Software etc. ?? More Cpanel licences? I think the basic Dedicated Servers as advertised in fastservers etc. need to be top up with few other things. Any advices? Thanks

If you get a Cpanel server it comes with WHM. So you are all ready setup to offer reseller accounts to clients

doesn't the Control panel have licences etc. ? Any other email etc. software to install? or configure? or do the provider does one time setup of all these. What are the main things i have to concentrate (learning etc.) for day to day operations? or making things anonymous etc. Thanks for your input.

Most hosts provide the CP liscense. Cpanel Liscences are normally 35+ more than the Plesk/Ensim ones since of the price. Mosts hosts normally install everything for you for the first time so that everything is ready to go ASAP. You reall need to just know how to fix problems, setup accounts, ssh, secuirty updates, patches, upgrades, ips, etc, etc, etc. If you don't know that much I would suggest getting a managed server (the host upgrades secuirty holes, pathches, etc for you). The price is a bit more expensive... but its worth the money. -Alec

yeah phpcoder is correct about managed server though you may not try to learn again By chance, if you're on budget then maybe keep some time in hand for the hands-on

Hello, I've read in different threads that BurstNET (www.burst.net ) they are offering dedicated servers, along with Cpanel & WHM. Compare to other compnies, their costs are very reasonable. However I don't have any idea about their support. But seems they're reliable.

email software and cpanel and its supporting components all come installed. You will manage the day to day tasks from the WHM. Of course, the WHM doesn't do everything and there are instances when you will need to ssh into the server to do things manually. If you are not sure, you can hire somebody to do the odd tasks for a pre-set monthly fee and then you can have peace of mind.
