Weird problem with my VPS hosting - help?

Hey guys, I really have no idea where the problem is in this situation so maybe one of you can help. Here's what's going on: My websites on the vps hosting accoung (hostican) will go down, sometimes all of them, sometimes only one or two. My server status will all be fine and says everything is running, including httpd. My analytics / other tracking will still record hits like the websites are still online and other people can apparently still see them. If i ping my website from cmd it will time out. I can still view all of the rest of the internet fine. I have restarted my vps and nothing changes. The last time it was down for 2 days then suddenly I could view it again. I have NO idea where to even look for the problem here. Its like somehow my own website is blocking my ip or something. Have you ever heard of anything like this?

Frankly, it's difficult to tell based on what you've described. Your best bet would be to get a network admin to investigate as soon as your start seeing issues. Can you get your provider to trouble shoot this for you? A shot in the dark, are you running a firewall on your VPS? Perhaps you have CSF installed. It's customizable via cPanel. Check to see if it's dynamically blacklisting your IP. Regards

Where would I check in my WHM to see if I was using CSF? I just confirmed by checking a website speed analyzer that my sites are indeed online, but I still can see them or log in to ftp. If it's not the CSF, is there anything else it could be?

Can *others* view your sites when *you* can't?

That's what it sounded like to me too.

If you can get to WHM but not your website, then it's not the firewall. It may just be a dns issue. Do a dns diagnostic on your domain and look for errors.
