Posted by grisu59, 08-13-2002, 11:21 AM | Where is the problem?
It's not difficult I think
the problem is the the FTP
ftp.subdomain.mydomain.com
has the same pasword of
ftp.mydomain.com

Posted by grisu59, 08-13-2002, 12:02 PM | Now I found that it's possible also make own ftp user for subdomains
in your CP
======= **
Go to FTP Manager --> FTP Subaccounts --> Add.
Enter in the relevant information
For the relative directory enter
/subdomain.mydomain.com
This will restrict that FTP user to that directory.
======
** from H-Sphere forum support
it's works well

Posted by rhytha, 08-13-2002, 12:53 PM | guys i don't follow you.
I acutally want to give my clients to upload thier files into their directory, with no access to my root directory which hosts my other domains. Iam talking here about windows server here, not linux or unix which we can create with no big fuss.
in my windows plan in H-Sphere there is no Ftp Sub-Accounts as grisu is has said. if it can be done can any one give me a step-by-step guide.
hey reseller forum rocks, i had previously posted this thread in hosting software and cp forum but not even one reply.

Perhaps I have understand wehre is the problem
You have done a subdomain (or a third level domain is the same for this problem) for ex:
subdomain.mydomain.com
Now in your CP you have on the left the option
FTP/User account
At the bottom you have
FTP/user subaccounts
you choose ADD
you write the USER ex USER1
the URL that will be
/subdomain.mydomain.com
and the password ex PASSW1 (twice)
now you have an ftp account for you user
I hope that I have explain well also if .... I'm italian!

Posted by rhytha, 08-13-2002, 01:30 PM | hey weberz you did'nt mention that there is no ftp-subaccounts option in WIN2K when you know. I saw your post in h-sphere forum.

Posted by tracphil, 08-13-2002, 01:37 PM | On the H-Sphere forums I was not aware we were talking about windows.
|
Posted by MatrixRS, 08-13-2002, 11:15 PM | I don't think you can in H-Sphere unless the host runs Serv-U and that would be a very very bad idea..
It does support it on the unix. Just not on the windows side as of yet as far as i know.

Posted by EzSnake, 08-14-2002, 10:15 AM | Windows servers by defualt do not do Sub-FTP accounts...
You can get this functionality w a 3rd party FTP Server or there is a addon to IIS for this somewhere.
|
Posted by rhytha, 08-14-2002, 04:06 PM | martixRS why don't you install the 3rd party stuff??
|
Posted by MatrixRS, 08-14-2002, 04:37 PM | If you install serv-u then all IIS sites run under one user name very very bad idea. Like windows is not bad enough..LOL
At least least this is what Psoft has said. I picked the more secure route..
|
Posted by tracphil, 08-14-2002, 04:43 PM | That is my reasoning as well.
Better keep with the plan than deviate much.
