Reseller Plan

Posted by web docta, 02-28-2002, 08:29 PM
OK, I know that it's probablly been asked before. I starteda design and hosting service, I have already been through 2 different webhosts and now I have to look for another. Why can't these guys just do their job right and keep their servers up and running? Anyway I'm looking for a reseller account that's reliable and has been in business a while, I need 1000mb space about 8-10 GB transfer and around $30.00 a month and a reasonable # of Domain names -50. Does a reliable host like this exist? Thanks for any help to a newbie.

What 2 web hosts have you already been through?

I too would like to know which hosts you have already gone through........and what kind of downtimes were you getting......... I could easily recommend 4 hosts from here that have good reps.......

Of course the first was HostOnce -you know you host your site once and then it's gone The other was Sterlet.net . When VDI was down 2 weeks or so ago it was out for about 2 days, after that my sites were having problems on and off for 2-3 days at a time on 2 occasions. Today was the last straw . I was down for about 8 hours on and off. I need help quickly, I was looking at Datahosts Splashhost McHost or Voxextreme. Which is the best? Help! Last edited by web docta; 02-28-2002 at 09:27 PM.

Apparently VDI were suffering a DOS attack yesterday ( my time ) which may account for some loss there. I can vouch for Voxtreme as I'm a happy customer there. Lats...

Thanks Lats, Did you hear anything about datahosts.net . Their reseller plan looks very good 2GB space, 20 transfer - $35 ? I don't see web based email there though.

OK, I looked at some threads, I like the web based email at Splashhost and they seem to offer what I need. I also like the private nameservers that I can use. Took me about 1.5 hrs to make this decision, I went with Splashhost - wish me luck! I really don't want to change again.

Are you sure Sterlet were telling you the truth about VDI being down? We certainly experienced no down time about 2 weeks ago, and certainly not for 2 days.

I don't know if they were telling the truth, that's why I will not trust my customers with them. The bottom line is, I'm the one who my customers will complain to. BTW, my sites were down most of the day yesterday with them and when I told them that I did not want to stay there anymore they immediately dumped everything in my account - they didn't give me a chance to save my files. I lost my forum!

Yahoo!!!! I'm up and running again. DNS took about 24 hrs. I had to call Register.com to have them manually change the IP # settings for my DNS. It feels good to be back!!!!!!

Good Reseller account provider: http://www.donhost.com I've had very few problems so far. Support is always good, and their customer service manner is always first class over the phone. Approximately £45 per month 50GB transfer unlimited space unlimited domains usual scripts supported

I signed up with Splashhost right now and I hope to stay there. As long as my sites stay up and running, I'll be happy. This time I did not sign up for any long committments, just in case it dosen't work out

Err If we were down for 2 days, 1/2 the population would be here doing some flaming

Posted by web docta, 03-04-2002, 09:41 PM
William, I am just starting out and only have 3 sites online right now with 3 more coming on soon. I was pretty upset with Sterlet.net. They blamed it on VDI being down once, which was true, but I think that they exaggerated the legnth of downtime attributed to the VDI problem. They never explained any of their other downtimes. With me, three strikes ( within a month) and you're out! There was not even the possibility of me giving them another chance. I won't even bother to flame Hostonce, it's not worth my time. If I had lets say 20 or 30 sites online I would be a lot less tolerant.

As i said in my one of posts. Sterlet.net is OK till you don't face any problem. If you have , then 'May God bless you' - No numbers, fax etc. no forums all closed door. Further to it the Support is bunch of Wierds. Personally after experiencing many feel Voxtreme you can trust on for Support. Keep it up guys!

Oh yeah Donhost is good they have one good feature of deleting all you read or unread emails every 3 months, even you are using 10% of the allocated diskspace !! I could not find this good feature even in free emails like hotmail or yahoo. So if you're in business, 1) you should download all emails to your PC or laptop 2) No way to refer your old emails if you are on a business trip to another city etc. You are in luck if you have laptop, God have mercy to them who cannot afford, but these days desktops are also lightweight than last time.... good idea?
