https://safeweb.norton.com Type in a website and it shows if the site has been tested by norton and whether it is safe or not. Shows if the site has drive-by downloads,etc... Includes reviews of the safety of sites by users and other handy info on the latest viruses, threats and potentially dangerous websites. All the ones i have tested so far come back safe

If you use Firefox 3, Google's safebrowsing list is downloaded and checked automagically anyway and you'll get a warning message that prevents you from entering bad sites.

Or just install NoScript and don't be stupid.

Haven't had experience with Norton safeweb, but have used a few tools that are fairly similar: Netcraft toolbar http://toolbar.netcraft.com/ is pretty good for phishing scams and other such alerts. And is also a bit informative about the site itself. I've used WOT before http://www.mywot.com/ , but they seem to be based entirely on user reviews - this is a good and bad thing. Lots of sites are listed, but a lot of them are impacted on what people are thinking at the time they visit.

Mcafee site adviser is also a good service. Google Chrome also has a built in function for checking dangerous websites and its integrated with Google so i think its more reliable than any other service in this regard.

From a security specialists perspective, norton scanners are useless. Any botnet operator can code a new bot and it will defeat norton for up to 6 months. Nod32 - 1 month. Are you sure of your AV provider? I certainly am
