I am a web designer who is currently looking to join the world of resellers. I know there are many different opinions from people on here about different hosts. Maybe if I explain my business a little more it can narrow down some suggestions. My customers are mainly small office/home businesses that I either design their web page or remodel their existing one. Most of them do want shopping cart features (from 50-1000 products and up....) .
I need some heads up in two areas.
1) Host (I have been looking around and VisionHead seems to fit me). Any feedback from people who have experience with them?
2) Payment Method
I do want to stay away from paypal because my clients would have to join paypal.
Any info would help alot.

McHost
SplashHost
Netacore
and maybe some more that I missed, but those for sure are the dominating companies at these forums.
2) Most hosts use 2checkout.com for their credit card transactions. A one time fee of 50 bucks and a low percentage of comission per transaction. I wouldn't use paypal though.

Also take a look at hostcharge.com. We use 2checkout.com and have been pretty happy with it.

I would choose a CPANEL/WHM host, thats just based off personal preferance though.
-Billing-
2checkout.com (Popular vote now a days never used it)
revecom.com (Used to use it, may not be most liked anymore)
Or get your own merchant acocunt, in the long run its the best way to go. Wells Fargo offers a nice deal with a authorize.net gateway included.

They've had a few small "glitches" but only on old servers in the Burst datacenter and most were network problems with Burst. All new clients are going on new servers at the DV2 datacenter in ATL and is smooth sailing.

now, I have yet to open an account with either of them...will do that this monday or so.. but they seem like two very reliable companies to deal with.
most people have issues with the fact that pixelseven's website is always a work in progress and returns too may 404 errors, it doesn't seem to affect the hosting part.
I am right now cheking their response time to pre-sale e-mails to make up my mind.
Good luck in your search, mine has been a big overload of information.

| Posted by beley, 05-24-2002, 01:22 PM | | Dave - ALL MChost offers is reseller plans. All their plans include unlimited domains. There is no extra charge for 50, 100, or 1000 domains unless you exceed your disk space/bandwidth. You can also upgrade accounts any time (or downgrade).

| Posted by v-rod, 05-25-2002, 11:14 PM | | Dave, we resold for Visionhead for almost two years before getting our own servers. I don't think we ever had a support issue that did not go unanswered and/or fix within an hour. Even after a year, we still try to handle things as they did for us.
