Best Reseller that allows Adult

Posted by 411Hunter, 05-27-2002, 11:15 PM
Well, I am thinking of going with MChost or Splashhost based on what I am reading here, for my mainstream ecommerce hosting and to offer hosting to my clients. However, I am also interested in possibly being able to offer hosting to selected adult websites (porn). Do any of the big resellers here allow adult sites? Can you guys recommend any reputable reseller programs that allow adult content? Or should I just stick with MChost or Splashhost and do mainstream only? All advice genuinely appreciated. Thanks! And thanks for providing this forum, and for helping me find an alternative to AIT, a company I left a long time ago and swore never to use again!

The reason why we don't offer adult hosting is because it often attracts a different class of clients, many of them additionally uploading illegal software or copyrighted music, etc. Also with adult content sites you'll have a few that collect images/audio/video from other sites which hold the copyright on the content ..so in the end you will most probably experience more support/administration work than with 'regular' sites. Adult sites will also use far more bandwidth and depending on your pricing structure this can be good or bad. I'm sure the adult hosting industry has some advantages, too ...but thats just my personal view of it. Hope this helps

Marc, thanks for the info. I didn't realize there was a rep from MCHost that frequented the board here. I jsut posted another thread about MCHost, voicing my frustrations at not being able to find specific pricing on the site. Sorry for the venting, if you'd rather drop me an email than answer on the board that would be great. I basically want to know what the price will be to get my full featured ecommerce store hosted with you, and what I will be charged to offer the same to others. Thanks.

Marc pretty much covered everything One other thing though is that with adult content, you are likely to attract more hacking attacks, as script kiddies etc. try to access porn for free, so imho, hosting adult material puts your servers at risk. Matt
