Upgrade to MySQL 5.1?

Posted by roacha, 09-09-2008, 08:04 PM
Hey guys, I am currently running the latest version of MySQL 5.0. But I have been reading that MySQL 5.1 has shown good performance improvements and fixed lots of issues. Even though it is not a GA release are you guys installing 5.1 or are you waiting until it is GA? "One thing we're really most proud of is, frankly, we fixed a lot of outstanding bugs in 5.0," Urlocker said. "So 5.1 has not only greater reliability, but a performance increase of 20 percent. It will be more in some cases and less in others, but there's a significant performance boost and scalability enhancements." Thanks

Nobody is considering upgrading to 5.1?

We haven't installed 5.1 on any servers yet. This time the developers have decided not to do a early GA release, they did that with 5.0 which was a mistake leading to wrong result bugs. This time around they prefer MySQL users in helping them make the decision.
