I wasn't away of any either, but a few of my friend web designers have told me about CHMOD 777 issues to do with htaccess. I can't find anything on the web about this.

Hello George, I am not sure if .htaccess has any security issues all I know is that .htaccess is a directory level configuration file that can be used to password protect files, redirect files, url rewrites, etc you can even place apache configuration dirctives in it and it will apply to all the subdirectories also. But one thing I know for sure that giving chmod 777 to the .htaccess file or to any file for that reason is really a security threat. As any body can access it and edit or execute it.It can serve as a loop hole for hackers to attack you.
