internal 500 error w/htaccess file

hello everyone, i'd like to see if anyone could help guide me in figuring out this problem. #1 i run a url shortening site #2 there was a hardware problem that required reloading OS and back ups of my site #3 now I cant get the site to work properly a) with the htaccess file installed i get internal 500 errors the htaccess file the error I get... b) if I delete the htaccess file, then the site loads and works normally, BUT then I get 400 file not found errors on the redirected url c) mod_rewrite is installed ??????????? any ideas, things to try ?????????? thanks in advance

You could probably better fix the problem if you look at and post here the servers error logs. The 500 internal server error could be caused by multiple situations.

The error logs will help but I guess your problem is : Options +FollowSymLinks is not to be here.

Hi, Just Remove "Options +FollowSymLinks" And it will fix the problem. Let me know.

yep, so far that seems to have worked, funny thing is the script used to work with it there ??? thanks for the replies everyone! will test a little more after work today, thanks again!!

Hi, Your host has just disabled symlinks for security reasons It will still work even without symlinks. One examle i have faced was opencart in the htaccess and was working magnificent
