Stack Overflow

Posted by gonefishingboard, 12-15-2010, 12:48 PM
Hey Everyone, I just changed over a new layout in wordpress and all was fine until about an hour ago when I started receiving a Stack Overflow at Line 1010 error. I have no idea what this means and wanted to see if anyone else could help me out. I would like to have this resolved ASAP. Any help is greatly appreciated as I know nothing about this. url: www.bartabnews.com

Can anyone offer any insight?

Stack Overflow means you've called a function too many times without returning. A common way is an recursive function without an exit condition. Without posting the code (or the portion around Line 1010) no way of knowing.

When I pull the source there is no line 1010 though.

Are you sure that line number refers the primary source file? It quite possible the stack overflow is firing in one of the files you are bringing because of incorrect parameters to some call in that file. Have you hooked up a javascript debugger? It should be able to give you a callstack, its likely to be huge but somewhere near the top should be the caller function. Last edited by DeanoC; 12-16-2010 at 12:28 PM. Reason: typo's

First, where did you see the error? And what exactly the error message was? Those are needed to determine the exact cause of what's happening to your Wordpress site.

I'm guessing you're using Internet Explorer? Anyway, that's a Javascript error. The problem is likely a conflict between your new theme and a plugin you're using. What I would do is disable all plugins except for the defaults and then re-enable one-by-one until the error occurs again. Then you know which one is causing the issue.

I will start with this and see what I get. Thanks.

Hey Hostofy, Thanks for the quick response. I Disabled a plugin that I thought might be causing the issue and you were right the problem went away. Once again Thanks a lot.
