How long did it take you to learn Frameworks?

It sucks that when I finally learned the basics of PHP (I will never master complex arrays though), that when I apply for local PHP jobs, they all require that you are an expert using frameworks like Symfony. Now I feel like I am starting from scratch again, and by the time I learn to use framework programs I bet there will be some new requirement. I tried sitting down and messing with frameworks before and I couldn't even figure out how to install "addons" for it even with using tutorials. I would really like to work as a full time programmer since they really get paid A LOT, I would be set for life.

You are just going through a phase that every PHP developer goes. You should have a particular level of PHP skills in order to understand PHP frameworks. Some frameworks are not fully developed, you have to dig through the code to fix the issues. Once to know the MVC magic that happens in one framework, rest of the frameworks are easy. Codeignitor will be a good start for a PHP framework, as it is easy to learn and program.

CodeIgniter is the easiest framework to learn and would be a good starting point. If you know PHP well enough, you should be able to develop basic CodeIngniter based website within a week. But do note the CodeIgniter does have some limitations. Therefore if you have the time, start with Symfony.
