login to ftp by ssh

Hello how may login to one ftp and transfer file from ftp to ssh?( i use of putty) and another question : how may i download this file from ssh?(transfer to ssh) tes1@testsite.com:usersite@11.11.11....ly/user.tar.gz ? thaks

Hi not entirely clear what you mean. if youre logged into your server with SSH and want to download something from FTP, assuming its public. wget ftp://yourhost/file. If you want to transfer from one server to another via SSH as you put it. then look at scp (secure copy) Hope that helps.

If your SSHd into some box and want to pull a file from an ftp server use wget. wget ftp.blah.com/path/to/file.ext same goes for http

use sftp, not ssh man sftp

there are too many @ here. if you want to transfer files via scp from one host to another host, and both hosts have sshd running, then you should use scp file user@host:/path/ Or if you are on a windows host and want to download a file from your server you can just use winscp. I hope that is what you meant in your question. Regards, Patrick
