Apache 1.3.xx or 2.xx

Hey guys, I'm kinda new to configuring servers but have a very big website I want to put a new box I'm building, but am not sure if I should install Apache 1.3.xx or 2.xx. I see a TON of web hosts still use Apache 1.3.xx, but it seems that most books now a days say to install Apache 2.xx. What is recommended and is there any reason not to go with Apache 2.xx? Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Go for 2.2.xx unless your setup requires any specific modules written for apache 1.3.xx only.

I'd go the 2.2.x route as well, more features and options available unless you absolutely need something in apache 1.3.x

Hey guys... thanks for your suggestions. Most of my website is built with php/mysql, and I'm seeing some strong discouragement of the use of Apache 2 on PHP's website: http://ca3.php.net/manual/en/install.unix.apache2.php I'm not too keen on this stuff... do you guys think php 5 has these issues with Apache 2?
