hostingdepartment.net stole my data

Hostingdepartment.net went down recently and I lost some data. I posted the full story in the other thread on the web hosting board (can't post links sorry).
It has come to my attention that they may have had the service hosted by some other company and I may be able to contact that other company to get my data back. Their sister company ukeasily.co.uk also went under and UKgrid can supposedly get data back to burnt customers.
Can anyone fill me in on this?

UKGrid disabled access, so no backups will no longer be available, best bet is to contact Craig, but don't think you'll have any luck there, been trying to contact for the past week.

The rule is keep your own backups, most hosts take no responsibility for them!!!

ay same situation here...and you can only get your stuff back if you were on dedicated. I was on shared hosting ;_;
