Help...server issues, domains not resolving, sql shutting down

Hey All, I am having some wacky stuff going on with my server. I run a Godaddy v-ded and according to them, the server is fine. What i'm experiencing is, some of my domains are not resolving, some are. For the ones that are working that run via a database, every few hours, I need to restart mysql(or the server) to get them running again. I have no idea what's going on and can use some serious help. Linux OS: Kernel Version - 2.6.9-023stab044.4-smp Hardware Information - 3ghz xeon, 512mb, 20gig hd Software Version - fedora 7 Control Panel - WHM 11.11.0 cPanel 11.16.0-R18546 TOP VMSTAT Log File(s) /var/log/messages:

Try checking your domain at dnsstuff.com for any nameserver related error.. And for the domains that need mysql restart to keep running, whats the error you get when it fails to bring up the site ?

it says it can't connect to mysql.sock...however, it's intermittent...

it's not a dns related error. Are there any other logs that I can look at? literally half of my domains work, the other half dont. they are all on the same ns and configured the same way...

There is a possibility that your server got a lot of mysql connections which eventually crashed the mysql server.. First of all you can set up autorestart for mysql service through WHM >> Service Manager. Enable the "monitor" option for mysql. This is just to avoid you having to manually restart everytime.. And check if you have any busy blogs or forums using up mysql resources.. Tweaking my.cnf will also help. You can limit max_user_connection as well as max_connection.. This issue looks to be unrelated to the dns issue you are facing.. Did you check dnsstuff.com or dnsreport.com for any nameserver related issues associated with the domain..

Are you referring to the sites that need mysql restart to work(since you mentioned two different issues in this post). If yes, you can tail mysql error log at /var/lib/mysql and look for any significant messsage. The error log is the file with the extension ".err", in this folder. If you want me to take a look at the server PM me the details..

Hey Man, Thanks for the info. I set the monitor for the sql issues, I will tweak my sql settings, I think that's what's causing the mysql to crash. Regarding my resolving issues, These are signs with and without databases. When I look it up through one of the dns sites, everything checks out ok, except for telling me that the http connection was refused, which makes no sense, because other sites on the same server are working without a problem.
