Webecs gave me a sql2000 backup in zip format. the told me that its the only extension that they give sql2000bd backups. But now i want to restore it in a new host service and they asking me for the *.bak file. What can i do with that file? any idea? - The zip size is 10mb and uncompressed is 40mb - The uncompressed from the zip file doesnt have extension. Thank you all.

could be possible that the file that is zipped, is actually a .bak file, but for some reason doesn't have the .bak extension? You might try adding the .bak extension to it, then send it to your new host, and have them see if it will work.

Forward the zip file to your new host. They should be able to restore it for you. It doesn't matter if it has .bak extension or not.
