Webhost lelahosting.com down for 12+ hours, Help please!

Posted by blaug12, 10-14-2007, 10:57 PM
My site, as well as that of my webhost lelahosting.com, has been down for over 12 hours. I suspect there has been a major catastrophe over there at Lela. Of course emails dont work. I have been with lelahosting.com for some years now, with no problems, until now. As support has always been via their site before, now I can't reach them via the support section. I looked up their phone number from whois.com but it is not a valid one. I dont have any other numbers for them. What do I do guys? any feedback appreciated. As a start, I would like to know what the situation at Lelahosting is. Any ideas on how I can do that? Anyone have any more info?

Got backups of your site?

Posted by blaug12, 10-14-2007, 11:10 PM
Yes. Well, not right till yesterday but I do have some backup. I guess I can just sign up with another host and upload the backed up files and start all over again. I am hoping I dont have to do that. I suspect this is some kind of denial of service attack on Lela hosting. How can I get some more info on the situation with Lelahosting?

You could try asking the owners of their IPs, but if it's a billing issue (as these things often are) they'll probably be unwilling / unable to discuss it with you. If after 12 hours your host hasn't made any effort to contact you (even from a free mail account) I'd say it's time to cut your losses and take your backups elsewhere.

Oh, you mean the webhost might have had their services disconnected because they haven't paid THEIR bills? in my case, I have paid all the bills, and its not only my site that's down, but Lela's as well. As a first step, I thought I would try to get my last homepage back and host it eleswhere. I recall reading of some site where they store the homepages of various sites for the last day or so, any ideas? Thannks guys, Ric

You're probably thinking of the wayback machine. You'll be lucky to find anything there from the past few days though. Google's cache might give you better results. Good luck...

I contacted that other service provider (TMS).. he is saying that he cant help unless the seller cancels the server. It seems there is big issue with this hosting.

Insted of the Wayback Machine, try getting your pages through cached pages at search engines. Put the URL-s of your pages into the search field, like: http://www.webhostingtalk.com and save the engine's cached file. Act fast, if you go this way, as cached pages may change any time.

Who is TMS? and what do you mean by "he cant help unless the seller cancels the server."? Regards Ric

TMS is tailor made servers http://tailormadeservers.com/ and jose is good fella, havent had any server issues yet with them, so i think it might be lela disappearing case here.

Like most of you, we've been trying to get a hold of them for a few days now. I don't know all of Lela Hostings' business, but I do know they hosted some (if not all) servers with us. I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused their customers but it seems fair to assume that we won't be hearing back from them in the near future. Unfortunately, we need to go through the due process and allow them to contact us before we can do anything to help their customers. In the event that we don't hear from them, we will try to work something out. JoseQ

The servers have been canceled. I've put them back online for those affected customers to get their data off the servers. They will remain online for roughly 12 hours. If you have a dedicated server with them and wish to keep it, please contact me directly about picking up the account. Please spread the word so that those affected can get their data on time. After the servers are put offline again, they will pulled and reprovisioned. JoseQ

Wow I started this thread, and didnt read the most crucial post (by JoseQ) till it was a bit too late. I thought when the server came back online that it was Lela who had put it back online. Jose, if you're reading this, please check your email. Would like to continue my dedicated server with you. Thanks and regards Rick

As the company that used to host well over 20 of Lela's servers, I can tell you that in all liklihood this guy has also stiffed TMS as well. In fact, we warned Jose over a year ago about this particular client. As far as NectarTech was concerned, he skipped on paying his bill (well into the 5 figures) before we shut him down. He also skipped paying his technicians located in India, and still owes them over $2,400 for work that was done on his boxes for his adult clients. Needless to say, we are well aware of Timothy Embler's ways, and it's my hope that everyone who had their services interrupted have backups. Please contact me privately if more details are needed in regard to Lela. Good luck.

Ah.. and yes we are the unfortunate technicians from India as Nick mentioned. I was sure that his ways would soon lead him to misery some day; But I am sorry for all his customers who have gone through his wicked ways. He is very gentle and sweet when he talks; But he always postpones payments and then one fine day, he just cuts off logins to all his servers. Hey, we have no objection to someone who no longer requires our service; but "Hellooo" .. atleast pay us for what we have worked for ! Hmm... That is Tim's ways to cut expenses - ditching us poor souls. When it comes to Tim, as far as I can find out, the story never ends. I had come across a few others who has the same bitter experience from him as well. God save Tim. Last edited by linux-image; 10-25-2007 at 06:38 AM.

Some of their servers are possibly in Softlayer, which is experiencing downtime ATM. http://whois.domaintools.com/lelahosting.com
