Posted by NWSTech, 10-17-2007, 06:30 AM
if i rememebr right dedicated box use the dediwebhost data center which is also who managemybox use and all my sites with the latter are down at the moment - dont hold me to that tho

Posted by jumpinjack, 10-17-2007, 06:32 AM
how long has it been down for? do you know what is going on?

Posted by NWSTech, 10-17-2007, 06:34 AM
been down around 30-45mins just checked and dedicatedbox use the 66.79 ip range which is apprently linked to managemyservices. if you read my post (its below yours in this forums) you will see i suspect that cogent is doing some maintenance(without telling anyone) or their jjust plain down. because all my traces stop at them

Posted by worelock, 10-17-2007, 06:37 AM
My server also hosted at dediwebhost is also down. So is their own web server or at least unreachable Does anyone have contact numbers for them?

Posted by NWSTech, 10-17-2007, 06:38 AM
is your server with dediwebhost directly or through a reseller

Posted by jumpinjack, 10-17-2007, 06:43 AM
yes i am also on the 66.79 ip range. so there is nothing to do but sit back and wait?

Posted by NWSTech, 10-17-2007, 06:46 AM
yup. if its cogent id be expecting a long wait to

Posted by worelock, 10-17-2007, 06:54 AM
yea the server is in the 66.79 range And it is direct through Dediwebhost.

Posted by Laws, 10-17-2007, 06:55 AM
This is not a Cogent issue as far as i am aware as we would have switched straight over to Verio if required. I am consulting with on-site engineers now.

Groovy. 66.79 server here also. Also down. What scares me is dediwebhost.com is down too... wouldn't they have their server off site so if their datacenter goes down they still have a server up? I've received emails from ddwebhost.com before, and going to that site it's not only still up but just says "Server ok..."

Posted by NWSTech, 10-17-2007, 07:08 AM
obviously the contingency that their entire DC might lose conection has never occurded to DWH

Posted by Greedisgood, 10-17-2007, 07:29 AM
Yep my server @ DDW is down. http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...26#post4760426

Posted by NWSTech, 10-17-2007, 07:31 AM
yep i saw the same symtoms befor connection loss that you did greedisgod, slowness then total loss of connection

Posted by Greedisgood, 10-17-2007, 07:41 AM
On DDW, also on the 66.79 range, server's down.

Posted by Didoz, 10-17-2007, 07:57 AM
My server at managemybox is down too, and it also starts with 66.79

In regards to DedicatedBox.net; We are currently unsure what is going on but we are doing our best to solve the issue. This is a shame though, yesterday we launched our own personal network within the datacenter (you can see from the trace when servers are back online again) and moved our .167.* and .171.* racks to it (note: does not include other company's servers unless they resell for us), and now it is down due to a apparant uplink problem. We are working very hard to get the issue resolved, and really appologise for the inconvenience. We will post back later and keep everybody updated. Thank you. Sincerely, - Liroy

All servers now appear back online.

Posted by DedicatedBox, 10-17-2007, 08:25 AM
I am sorry for the quick reply that everything should be back up again, everything just went off the network again but I think i did receive a status report from the network engineer. Will keep everybody posted.

Posted by DedicatedBox, 10-17-2007, 08:48 AM
Back online for real now folks, however the network still is instable. We are under a *very* heavy ddos attack according to my network engineer. Sincerely, - Liroy

Posted by NWSTech, 10-17-2007, 08:56 AM
my servers are back also, with the odd glitch - looks like the team down at the dc have done well

Posted by DedicatedBox, 10-17-2007, 08:59 AM
Yes, but please do keep in mind that the attack is still comming in, it's a gigantic flood, so a bit of packet loss or some lag can still occur from time to time, but this far, the measures taken are working out quite well to keep everything online with quite a good speed so far Sincerely, - Liroy

Update: It appears to have been a problem on Cogent's side. The graphics made it look like a attack, but that might not be the case at all, still working on analyzing the problem, so please bare with us. Thanks! Sincerely, - Liroy

Posted by worelock, 10-17-2007, 09:31 AM
My server is back up now

Posted by jumpinjack, 10-17-2007, 09:34 AM
my server is also back up. which is good. so...can we ask for compensation like perhaps free upgrade *hint hint* or should we just shrug and accept it?

Posted by DedicatedBox, 10-17-2007, 09:42 AM
Hello Guys, At this point, please allow me to inform you that we are happy to announce that our network will be expanded with Global Crossings. This should get rid of alot of the Cogent problems. Second, regarding the compensation, I will get back about that when we have fully analyzed the problem. Thank you for your patience, and once more my apologies for all the inconvenience! We are doing our best to prevent this and provide you with a stable and fast network. Like yesterday most of our servers have been moved to our private network like we announced Sincerely, - Liroy

Any update on this perhaps? Thanks!

Posted by DedicatedBox, 10-24-2007, 09:14 AM
Oops, sorry about that. Yes, on the next billing cycle, all clients of DedicatedBox.net will have 100Gb extra traffic available, regardless of your server package. People that have a server through another provider, but were also having problems with this downtime, should contact the company they rent through. That includes company's that resell for us. Thanks! Sincerely, - Liroy
