Yep, im getting it, Poundhost seem to be going down hill fast, they need to get some engineers who can actually manage a network... And I dont think they believe in or understand what redundancy is... cos they dont seem to have any!!!

WELL IVE LOST ALL CONNECTIVITY. JUST TIMES OUT. Pound host is getting worse by the minute. My server is on a 100mbit connection yet no one around the world can get more than 400kb/sec doing the SSH WGET command. Im glad that all my customers are on a server with Rapid Switch. On my server with rapid switch (im colo) lots of people can get about 5mb/sec. If i contact them about this issue, they just say it is my ISP fault. If everyserver around the world can not seem to get more than 400kb/sec on it. I think it is a problem with there network. Thanks, Nathaniel

It seems to be up again. Thanks,

They dont seem to give a damn about the customers on their network anymore it seems, they just want to sell a shoddy service and count the pounds (funny its in their name lol). They used to have a good reputation. And the reason that these issues go on randomly until like 6am when they happen is obviously because they wont pay to employ network technicians 24/7 like they should be. Come on Poundhost, sort it out for once

I agree. I used to here over the moon with them, now i no so many people who have left them to go with another company. The only reason why i have got a server with poundhost now is becuase one of my hosting clients needed alot of space and processing power so now they pay me to manage the server. I think poundhost need to get the act into gear. They seem to like to blame network outages on Local internet service providers such as NTL. They say it is not there network but my ISP. At one time i was more than happy to recommend pounthost. Now i am not. Im rapid switch all the way. They provide better connectivity. They are actually next door to pound host (in the same datacenter and they have 24/7/365 support.) They colo services are also so cheap and of high quiality. It has infact worked out cheaper for us to buy a server from dell and put it into COLO. Thanks, Nathaniel

Hello, Just to confirm we have had no network issues today, this was planned maintenance as per the e-mails which have gone out to all clients, and the status updates that are located at www.ph-status.com which should be your first port of call ! Hope this helps, Regards, Matthew.

Oh yes i see. Got mixed up with the email from the previous day. But some of the threads i posted earlier i ment. Poundhost use to be a real good company. In my eyes one of the best for dedi servers. But now they seem to have let the selfs down. I seem to be getting very slow connections and i have been speaking to a few people who have given up servers becuase of this issue. Thanks,

Well at the end of the day, all you want is reliability, its not too much to ask surely. Some people experienced a total outage for upwards of 4 hours the other morning, not good. Some networks get a reputation for being unreliable, Poundhost seems to be going this way, but we shall see in the future, they will hopefully prove everyone wrong, and never be seen in the outage forums for a long long time lol.

One thing that really annoyed me was that i woke one morning the find that i could not access my server. Poundhost disconnected the switch in the rack my server was in. A server was getting DDOSed so they decided to disconnect all the servers. Thanks, Nathaniel

I should hope they had a pretty good explanation for that, but then I cant see them unjustifiably cutting a whole rack. Did they say why they booted the whole rack and not just the server that was causing the problems?

nop. They said it was taking the switch with it aswell which could be possible, but if they were using a gigbit switch it shouldn't have. Thanks,

Just got back and found it's happened for a thrid time today. What email? How do I get on to this mailing list as you don't send emails to the address that I am signed up with. I've never had a single email about maintenance or anything else

Posted by Maff, 06-28-2007, 10:01 PM
Your default PoundHost Portal account will be on the announce list by default, however to re-add, please email Announce@poundhost.com and this will add any e-mail addresses you require to be on the list. RE: Logikstudios: You may want to re-check your facts regarding disconnecting the switch of a rack - this makes no sense and we have no need to do this. Disconnect the server in question Yes, but the whole rack? No, this would only make the matter worse for other clients in this rack, and there is no technical sense in doing that anyway. Regarding the Network Maintenance this evening (which was planned as per my last response) this was to improve the routing and resilience of the core London network, something which is an ongoing task as we grow from strength to strength as one of the UKs leading co-location providers. Best Regards, Matthew

This is very good to hear, lets hope the improvements show their worth in the future.

Hi Maff. This is what i am just being told. I believe i was told by Gareth. The Ddos attack was not only taking out there server, but it was also taking out the switch. Thanks,
