I have several servers with Liquidweb and last days I get slow download speeds from Spain.

200 Kbps using a 1 Mbps ADSL.
I don't think that it is my ISP, running these test:

I get 600-800 Kbps.
Could somebody from Spain or Portugal check the previous URLs and to comment results?

If you are from another country you can also make the tests, so we will have this way a better knowledge about the behavior of the Liquidweb network from other countries.

I'm downloading that file at 60KB/sec from a Spanish dsl connection.

That is not an accurate performance metric to be testing. Contact LiquidWeb and provide them with your IP address. They can run a traceroute from their side back to you and find where the problem is. Just because you are in Spain and experiencing a problem with the speed doesn't mean someone else in Spain is going to have the same problems.

Thanks layer0, the problem is that I provide hosting and I have several customers complaining on this issue, and using different Internet providers in Spain. I opened a ticket with Liquidweb 2 hours ago, we will see what they say...

Here from portugal it is working fine, i downloaded it at 113KB/Sec on a 1Mbps ADSL line, so no problems.

Slow speeds from Canada too.
I hate to keep bringing this issue up but there are clearly some issues b/w certain routes to Liquidweb which they need to clear up.

Good speed here. 177 KB/s (1416 kilobits) on a 1.5 mbps (1536 kilobits) from Canada.
Are you sure you aren't confusing Kilobytes (KB) and kilobits (kb)? http://www.speedguide.net/faq_in_q.p...ory=90&qid=166
It really depends on the capacity of your cutstomers internet connection.
We have our server at liquid web and haven't had an issue with network speed at all.

When i said speed i really meant my ping tests. My ping tests are fine from the USA, but they are bad at certain times during the day from Canada.

And what exactly do you consider bad? I get better ping times pinging liquidweb.com than if I ping google.com or theplanet.com
Frankly ping times aren't exactly that critical for standard http based webhosting.

Anyways, I consider 150ms average ping times to be bad. All other major networks im around 50 or so.
Ping times do mean a lot to me because I can feel the slowness, even when im uploading files, going to the site, etc. Others must feel it too.

Of course, but I and my customers get approximately 1/4 of the maximum downloading from Liquidweb and almost the maximum from other servers in USA or making the tests that I indicated in my first message. Most of we are using ADSL 1 Mbps.

Yes, pretty slow from Belgium too. Around 40 kb/s, and my cable provider is on 4MB.
If you are from Spain, better to take a server in EU or another datacenter such Layeredtech.

Why are ping times so important for a webserver? As far as I'm concerned, ping times are not important unless you are running a gameserver.
BTW, I am getting 66-67kB/s from that liquidweb test download link, I am in Australia.

Hello I also have problems from Spain, downloading that file at 22KB/s with ADSL 2MB and for several weeks the ping increasing of 180ms to 240ms.

from Poland i have ping ~ 140 ms - it's OK
for example:
www.ev1servers.net ~160 ms
www.layeredtech.com ~155ms
www.powervps.com ~120ms (better then liquidweb becouse they use pccwbtn - good connection to europe)
www.theplanet.com ~150ms

With some of these reports, can the web host (Liquidweb) in this case, help? I would think that it could also be the ISP provider and how they are hooked up to the big carriers? What am I missing here?

Hello,
FWIW, I just pulled down that 10 MegaByte file from Liquidweb to my server at ThePlanet. My server is on a 10 Megabit connection and wget reported the download speed as 993.17 KB/s. That seems to indicate that MY 10 Megabit connection was the limiting factor on speed.
Ping times run about 39.5 ms
