Posted by dowxp, 11-07-2006, 04:13 PM
My rack went down around 12 and I called up cologuys and they told me cogent was "down" in dallas. Was wondering if anyone else was having a problem.

Our cogent network is down in Dallas, so yes does look like their are issues with cogent in Dallas. Getting 100% packetloss after this point: g0-1.na21.b010621-0.dfw01.atlas.cogentco.com

Actually confirmed this is a problem with colo4dallas, from what they said its a PDU failure.

Must be a coincidense. We have our own datacenter in the Dallas Infomart. Cogent was having a problem with one of their in-building nodes from what they told us. We only have a very small number of unmetered cogent customers as it was a product we tested, but decided that the quality of service, and the extremly slim margin was not worth the time and effort. The few customers that were using our cogent unmetered service were moved to our premium/primary network until we determin the cogent network stable for use again. This outage is just one of the many reasons we stopped offering cogent unmetered. I belive that Cogent's core routers are at 2323 Bryant in Dallas and their network rely's on the setup out there. With 2-3 network outages a month, I would hope it's not just a failing PDU elsewhere that causes them. Hope this sheds some light!
