Posted by Rick-WHSuite, 11-01-2006, 03:29 AM
I'm unable to access hostgator.com, theplanet.com or any of my sites hosted by hostgator (www.rmwebs.net)...even their support site is down. Anyone know whats going on?

All 3 of my sites @ TP and SM work fine...no probs...maybe a DNS issue with your ISP?

Everything works fine with me, both sites.

Hmm...thats wierd...i hope its not another loss of conectivity to parts of USA, that happened a month or so ago and it was aweful

I just tested it from 4 different geographical locations in the U.S with differnt providers, and all tests were good.

It could be a UK issue though, its happened before and i was able to access here and my other server (in seattle) but not theplanet

I can't get access to hostgator or my websites with them. I'm also in the UK. I'll be back later so I'll report if they're up for me later!

We are in the UK (Manchester) and can reach HostGator... but NOT some of the other large US data centres. There's definitely something flaky on the network somewhere.

Hi, I think it was virgin causing the problem, seems to be back now! Jon

backer here too. No idea what the problem was.

It seems to be back up now; im accessing from my college connection (BT). Although its slow, its working. The UK - US connectivity is extreamly poor as there is only one connection...it sucks

Can you elaborate?

Posted by Rick-WHSuite, 11-01-2006, 03:50 PM
Well it seems every time aboutnet do maintenance of the UK/USA connection, we loose connectivity to half the USA.

Lol... i think he meant only one undersea optic..

Over the last few days level3 has had connectivity issues to several locations within the US from the UK. There are also other's ISPS involved afaik but level3 has had a number of issues all on their own. If you look on netcraft quite a few news items regarding it are available. Enjoy!

It depends on your definition of "half the USA". ThePlanet/EV1Servers, SoftLayer, etc. all use AboveNet and are popular amongst these forums so is that your definition of "half the USA"?
