Posted by Mal, 03-30-2006, 09:12 PM
Usual query, can others not access ServInt or is it just me? Cheers.

1-800-5SERVINT seems down too, VOIP?

Or a power failure. I wonder why they didn't go with 1-800-4SERVINT though.

They should sort out an off-network status page for these sorts of occassions. My last two previous providers had this and it worked very well - far less likely to get customers posting on WHT. Will resist going on about not having access to their support forums because I'm on a dedicated server...

Their VPS network seems to be live which is interesting...it looks like this affects the dedicated server segment of their network only. edit: it looks like they're up.

I wanted to let you guys know that we posted this information for ServInt customers. --------------------------- 03/30/06 9:03 PM EST ServInt Network Status Update Shortly before 8:00 PM EST, a line segment failure in one part of the ServInt network facility caused line saturations and packet loss as traffic travelled across parallel connections. Though most customers were completely unaffected, some customer services experienced a period of packet loss and partial unreachability that extended for aproximately 30 minutes, until we were fully able to manually route around the problem. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. -The ServInt Network Response Team

They appear to be down again. Certainly, my VPS has been offline for over 6 hours.

ummmm they have been sending emails for weeks announcing that they are doing vps upgrades starting today. Name of Vendor: ServInt Internet Services Description of Maintenance: On Saturday, May 13, ServInt will begin migrating your VPS account to a newly provisioned Virtuozzo 3.0 host server. This process will require some downtime as your VPS is migrated to the new host server using a process called fastsync. The speed of fastsync depends on the total amount of data moved, and more specifically, how much data changes during the migration. The process involves a double rsync, the first done while your VPS is live, the second done while it is offline. Large, quickly changing files, such as logfiles and database data files, tend to slow down the fastsync process. You can help speed up the process by trimming your disk usage. Less data to move means faster migrations. It also means less downtime during fastsync of your VPS. --- Start of Maintenance: Saturday, May 13, 2006, 20:00 EDT Window of Maintenance: 48 Hours Actual Down Time Required: Brief (see above) Affected Service Types: All SMV115 Clients Internal Ticket Number: 18062
