yes it was down for 3-5 minutes, everything. of course if you listen to the servint fanboys on these forums they will tell you servint's crappy network is the absolute best around. where are you now fanboys?

I have my main email accoun there and check for mail every 10 minutes. I did not even notice the 4 minutes.

well i guess servint must be heaven for those who demand little and don't have mission critical applications or important clients hosted there, but still want to pay medium-high prices for their IT services. for my company, we entrusted much of our operations to them (nearly 40 servers) and got burnt. the problems continue, even if these are smaller examples of them, and we as a result are down to just a dozen servers with them. i make what some might say is a big deal about it precisely bc we got burnt, because they were never upfront about their crappy network with us, and i don't want to see other people get burnt like we did/are being.

Is 4 minutes of down time crappy? I mean if they had to reboot the routers it would take that length of time. Why not have servers in multiple locations if its that critical? By being in one place you have no disaster provision.

4-5 mins of downtime 2x week is not good. i said _their network_ is crappy. BTN + Deutsche Telekom does not make a good network. Neither are especially good transit providers and indicate crappiness to me when no tier-1 providers like Level3, UUNet, Savvis, ATT, etc are present in the mix. crappiness is confirmed by the experience i have had with SI. here is another example: ping from chicago equinix to one of our servers at SI (McLean, VA): 42ms. ping from same place to one of our servers at Ashburn, VA Equinix (not far from McLean): 28ms. packets take 50% longer to get to SI or to come from SI bc their network is so horrible. my point is to show people what a horrible value for the money that SI is, so they will not get burnt like my company did. we have since moved most of our servers to Equinix dc's (the best), but that's irrelevant to the point i am making.

Your point is the same whiney axe you've been grinding for a while... if they are so horrible, find some place else to do business with. Sirius

i already have found another place to do business, as a i already stated in this read. i am slowly moving our servers out. you might want to read threads before commenting on them. however i will not let you SI fanboys with your "everything is groovy at servint" attitude fool more people into buying into that lie. the SI network is horrible and SI is not upfront about this fact. And their prices do not reflect this fact. People need to know these things and i will keep blowing the whistle on it, no matter what you SI fanboys have to say about it.

Yawn... same whiney rhetoric... good to see you found another host to do business with, I'm sure all the folks at ServInt will miss you greatly. Best of luck with your new host. Sirius

you keep talking about me, i'll keep talking about SI and how they offer a sub-par solution.

jesus, this is getting old. the ONLY thing you do here at wht is bash servint. dont you have a business to run? seriously.

I think the thread has run its course.
