Servint Outage: ETA?

Posted by JenniH, 09-23-2005, 11:34 AM
Our VPS is down, along with many others, due to a problem with a core switch in their DC. Has anyone been able to get hold of any sort of ETA on this? UPDATE: The situation could be getting worse.... Alerta gives me the following on servint.net itself: Time (US/Eastern) Checked From Result KBytes Secs Kbps 09/23/2005 11:38:44 London UK Error N/A 33.43 N/A 09/23/2005 11:38:41 Orlando USA Error N/A 30.19 N/A 09/23/2005 11:38:41 Las Vegas USA Error N/A 30.34 N/A 09/23/2005 11:38:41 Atlanta USA Error N/A 30.10 N/A 09/23/2005 11:38:44 Frankfurt GERMANY Error N/A 33.40 N/A 09/23/2005 11:38:41 Chicago USA Error N/A 30.19 N/A Anyone else? Thanks for the confirmation that it's not just me.....I can't connect to my VPS or to the Servint site.

Any idea when this outage started?

And we're back. Outage started at 16:12 BST by my watch. I'm sure they'll have a full announcement out soon though.

I just spoke with the NOC, you were correct to guess that a core switch went down. The ETA that I was given was just a guess, but they expect to have it back up within 15 minutes. Hope this helps.

Yes, about half an hour I think. One interesting side issue is that their forum bombed out as well. I saw it breifly but couldn't get back in thereafter.

I'm up... From my WebSitePulse monitoring (interval 5 minutes from 3 locations): 09/23/2005 11:22:40 - down 09/23/2005 11:41:29 - up

The ServInt VPS forums are working again.

We had a switch fail which services a large amount of our VPS customers. Our engineers were able to diagnose the problems with the affected switch and bring all customers up on a healthy switch within 25 minutes. At this point, all accounts should be seeing normal traffic levels. The forum server crashed under load, it has been upgraded and brought back online.

might want to check your abuse email account, you guys hadily ignored both of my emails which complained of a user violating your AUP 7-D and 7-I-2, i've also handily added your netrange to the firewall.
