Anyone have info about DN outage?

Posted by tcWebGuy, 12-07-2004, 03:26 PM
I thought everything was down, but I have one up and three down. Anyone else?

I can't even reach dedicatednow.com; can't even do a DNS lookup on it, so I assume it's a major problem. They are so amateurish; you'd think they'd at least have a DNS server for their domains outside their data center. Not to mention an emergency support site outside their data center. What a joke!

I know they were supposed to be doing switch maintenance on BR08 this morning at 10:30am, but this has also taken out a server on another BR, so presumably its not the same issue.

looks like it was a little over ten minutes of downtime. Please post if you get info before DN posts it... Customers already wondering.

Hello, An aggregation switch went down and was down for approximately 15 minutes, affecting a handful of customers. Our support staff quickly remedied the situation and everything is back and up and running. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused, and any customers that may have issues or concerns please contact support@dedicatednow.com. Thank you, Last edited by FortressEric; 12-07-2004 at 03:45 PM.

Eric, How about using a DNS server outside your data center and mirroring your Web site in another data center too. It's pretty Mickey Mouse to have your Web site with forums and e-mail go down whenever a switch fails and we want to find out what's up.

Its better DN also go down when DC have some problem. :-) When i can't get my web site, i usually check web site of data center, if that too down, i know its not my server problem and DC will take care of the problem.
