Charles said it is a problem with he.net and that they are going to switch to an alternate provider within the next 30 minutes. That was about 7 hours ago. I suggest you move anything important as soon as it comes up, orsm. I sure am glad I did.

Something smells fishy to me.... minutes before everything went down he strongly insisted that I pay my bill. I paid it and the lights went out less than 10 minutes later. I must have called his cell phone 30 times and each time it has rung out... until a couple of hours ago when it began redirecting straight to voice mail. At this point I just want my servers back. Suggestions how I might go about this? I'm not located in the US.

Good luck getting your server back. A lot of people had problem getting their servers back even though they are in US. Not being in US will only complicate matter. You may as well write the server cost as a tax-deduction to your business loss. Hope you have backup of your data.

Day Two, going on 24 hours of service interruption. Can't get Charles to pick up the phone or reply to e-mail. I've been humming this song to calm my nerves: New boy in the neighborhood Lives downstairs and it is understood. He's there just to take good care of me, Like he's one of the family. Charles in Charge Of our days and our nights Charles in Charge Of our wrongs and our rights And I sing, I want, I want Charles in Charge of me. Charles in Charge Of our days and our nights Charles in Charge Of our wrongs and our rights And I sing, I want, I want Charles in Charge of me. ANSWER THE PHONE PLEEEEEASE. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO TELL MY CUSTOMERS. Last edited by tjm74; 10-08-2004 at 12:15 PM.

Did they not move to theplanet?

Posted by tjm74, 10-08-2004, 01:18 PM
He did move to the planet. Since the move there has been even more downtime than he had at the previous datacenter. I called The Planet out of desperation but of course they won't give out customer info. He mentioned something to me a couple months back about a faulty router that needed to be replaced. Maybe he never got it done and it finally died? Or maybe he was feeding me a line. Maybe he hasn't paid his facility bill?

Well, no word yet on what the deal was, but 24 hours almost to the minute after disappearing, service has finally returned. That's a long time to hold your breath...

Charles is just brutal to deal with - he almost wiped out my business about 3 years ago with his dissapearing act. Buyer Beware.

Very much up now again.

Seems to be visible from only certain parts of the 'net. I can't get it to come up from my office (comcast cable modem) but I can reach it from other places. Weird.

I too am missing my server. I cannot reach any of my sites from Mediacom or Comporium cable modems. My sites are also unavailable from my work location. Anyone know when these sites are "supposed" to be up and running at 100%? I am not able to get ahold of Charles. When I call his cell phone, it goes straight to VM and that is full. This is pathetic!

Well, service has been restored but Charles has stopped answering the phone entirely, and won't respond to e-mail or support tickets. The online helpdesk has been taken down. He could be having a nervous breakdown? I just called The Planet and asked if they knew anything (if he had been hit by a bus or something) and they said his account is current and he submitted a support ticket to them yesterday, so at least I know he is not laid up in the hospital or the morgue or anything. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, but... For a while I was trying to reach him so I could send him some money to renew my contract, but after three weeks of the silent treatment even my high tolerance for monkey business has been breached. I want my server out of there, and if I have to go to Dallas I will. I don't get it, this guy seems hell-bent on going out of business. Anyone else been able to reach him?

This will test your patient to the utmost. Good luck with this.
