HostDime/Surpass Down

Posted by DreamHost-MikeS, 10-05-2004, 03:12 AM
Odd, I just got done talking with a Surpass Hosting admin via AIM, who stated that she "wished the network was down" to stop some drama on their own forums that had arisen. It was in regards to posts Surpass members made here about the service. Funny thing is.. the network appears to be unreachable immediately following the departure of the admin from AIM.

Doo doo doo doo. Definitely a weird situation. It has been back up for some time, but I was mostly commenting on the irony of the situation, which explains my lack of an update.

Are you a client of theirs? P.S. Be careful what you wish for!

I remain a client only because they have not yet processed the cancellation of my account.

Yes, it's time to move on as stressful as that can be.. Stuck w/them thru seemingly unending downtime but just can't take it any longer... Down more than 3 hours 10/16, but day not over yet... Down total of 6 hours 10/15 Down total of 15 hours 10/11-13 Down total of 4 hours 10/03 Down total of 3 hours 10/01 Down total of 2 hours 9/25 Down total of 3 hours 9/22 Down total of 15 hours 9/16-17 And that's AFTER the first 2 weeks of sept w/on going DDOS attacks resulting in individually assigned IP addies The worst part is the techs (not all) act so stupidly ignorant about it.. Just got a response saying it's been up all day and he can connect now when their own server status site says the server in question has been down for hours today.. Or else they try to use some other ploy to blame it on php scripts... What a bunch of frickin loosers... Any host suggestions for php US Legal adult site? - Been using under 5GB bandwidth a month w/less than 500mb disk space..

Yes, they seem to often base the daily/weekly uptime of the network and servers on whether they can connect at the time you write them. If they can, then hell, they've been up all week. If not, it's a problem with your ISP.

Server status logs seem to be conveniently 'erasing' past days of downtime. Why I use an external monitor... Regardless, I'm giving them another chance on another server - this one 30% Server load and 35% Memory Used rather than 80-90% for both.. So far good response time and no down time for 2 days in a row anywho...

I hope it goes well for you.

I am surprise to read this! I have few troubles with the host. I use them for 1 year now and have only 2 downtimes.
