Hey guys I have been reading for awhile but just started to post. Anyone know if the ddihosting server went down today. My webpage is not showing up and it was just fine earlier this morning. Thanks Sadude

I don't know about today but if you do a search on ddihosting you will see the story unfolding.

Anyone on their Windows servers experience any problems today???

Posted by HostingStar, 10-20-2004, 06:53 PM
The mail service on windows servers is running but http does not work. Looks like there is no data on the server. I have loged in the server with ftp and no data is available. Bad for those how did not backup. Regards

Posted by Reseller-Center, 10-20-2004, 07:06 PM
They may be restoring from backups.. (hopefully)

Posted by Insomniac, 10-20-2004, 07:28 PM
I can't even login to ftp!!! It does not like my userID/pwd This is an outrage

Posted by boonchuan, 10-20-2004, 07:32 PM
Shouldnt this posting be under Industry Announcement Outage section?

They are actually using Mail Enable? Oh my my... that's exactly what program my friend uses in his office to monitor emails sent and received from their company. It logs all incoming and outgoing mails and the admin could easily logon anytime and read the mails as they like. I hate mail enable. It's against my privacy policy, I so totally do not agree with Mail Enable at all!!! As other threads go, DDI is one of those "grow too fast and then self implode" companies. The may still be active (hopefully) and restoring your files but I would not put my money on that. I would suggest that you all go find another host ASAP. They might not be in the best shape ever at the current time. I hope that all you guyz get better hosts. Take care...

How long does it take to do the full server backup??? I would imaging that 6 hours is more than enough

Posted by TLott, 10-20-2004, 09:35 PM
Depends on their method of backup. 6 hours may not be enough, lot of variables.

Posted by TMC, 10-23-2004, 01:27 AM
Depends on their lack of backup. 6 weeks may not be enough, lots of cowboys.

Posted by sadude, 10-23-2004, 11:19 AM
hey guys...any updates?? I had 3 domains in my account and since they came back online I have only seen 1 of my domains there. Does anybody know if they have restored a backup yet or anything like that?????

Posted by TMC, 10-23-2004, 02:23 PM
Some recent evidence suggests that DDI Hosting have yet again changed their connectivity provider/s. Each time they recently did this (twice in the last 3 months), customer data was lost. Backup, backup, backup. Then backup again. (and yes we were not the only DDI customer whose data was lost because of disorganized server migration/s)

If what you say is true. You should look for a better provider.

Word on our street is, the Stevens family are cooking up another scam. The name is Paladin and don't say you haven't been warned.

We already answered that question on another WHT thread, but along with others it's been removed with no explaination. Therefore you probably should not ask here.

Posted by BigBison, 10-23-2004, 11:37 PM
bdsnyder: yeah, I hear ya... waiting for the thread cleanup... TMC: This is new info since the other thread, which was a connection to DDI, not htwebhosting. The truth has a nasty way of coming out eventually.

I have to laugh now, people are seeking support from DDI here: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?...ic=62247&st=16

Posted by AHFBWEB, 10-24-2004, 12:43 AM
I made that post then it was deleted, either my pm to the mod got it reinstated and changed my username or somebody copied and pasted it from the other ddi thread , http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...hreadid=334310 which by the way Larry has now responded too.

Posted by sadude, 10-24-2004, 01:55 AM
L.stevens posted on this site today stating that he longer controls ddi I luckily got larry to take care of my domain issues, he restored my databases and data and I am on my merry way I wish the best of luck to anybody still on ddi May I recommend reseller-center...they are doing great so far

Posted by kahoz, 10-24-2004, 02:46 PM
So can anyone give a host with Plesk and an similar price range ? Well, DDI is awnsering to my tickets, until it comes to more techincal issues (i.e. IIS configuration), they say that the issue has been "forwarded to a higher level of support" and don't give updates. This is making me mad.

Posted by Reseller-Center, 10-24-2004, 03:44 PM
Might try the "Host Quote from above, or try searching here. http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumd....php?forumid=4

Posted by NeoGen, 10-24-2004, 04:42 PM
If I am in you place, I wont take any risk to continue with DDI. I would suggest you to move out fast. Check this out : http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...&highlight=ddi

Anyone wishing to personally contact the former directors of Digital Dreams Incorporated (no longer trading legally) have every right to do so unless restrained by a court or by Federal Statute. Of course the former directors of DD Inc also have every right to not reply! According to public information on the Fish Forums membership pages, Larry Stevens' account there currently shows a total of over 750 posts since the 21st Sept 2004. We believe there is no coincidence between that date and the (approximately same) date from which DDI Hosting stopped providing us with customer support. In order to prevent this post (or this entire thread) from being anonymously deleted, we would ask that anyone wishing to contact Larry Stevens not post his new Fish Forums membership details here. Please read the WHT Forums Rules about posts containing personal information (such as prison numbers, etc). The URL of this thread is http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...hreadid=334396
